Buying or selling a home, adding-on/remodeling or greening" your own home, an Inspection will set your mind at ease about a home you're buying or selling, and a consultation will answer many questions you may have about what you can and cannot do in the Home Improvement process. Remember, a free estimate from a Contractor will naturally be biased; they need the work: An unbiased consultation is more logical. Just be careful about hiring non-trades people as Contractors or Inspectors; Indeed, many certification clubs have appeared on the Internet, built by marketers who sell Inspector validations for a fee. This means anyone can pay for/take a simple test and then call themselves home inspectors, with the marketing of their new-found business being the true motive for joining; that revered competitive edge! There's a plethora of franchises being offered; the idea that this business is some fast-track to wealth brings in all sorts, few of which ever built one house, much less hundreds; even among those who work the credential mills; who wage the validation wars (look at the ad space at right)! As always, Caveat Emptor: Beware and employ logic to transcend the hype and the fancy websites filled with look-at-me validations that anyone can purchase!
