Web Design Process1. Initial Client MeetingThe initial meeting is a "dream" session. I'll help you brainstorm about where you want to go with your website. If you already know where you're heading - great! I'll help you review the plan to make sure it fits your needs. Once we determine where your website is going, we'll determine how many steps toward the end result you want to take now. For large sites, or sites with far reaching goals, it's often best to break the process into self-contained steps and implement one step at a time. 2. Contract EstablishmentOnce we determine what services you want me to complete at this time, I'll write a contract outlining the details of the agreement. This is a safeguard for both you and me; you have legal assurance that I'll complete what I agreed to make, and I have a clear outline of the services we agree upon. 3. Stockholders MeetingAfter the contract is signed, I'll have another meeting (or separate meetings, if necessary) with all of the parties who have a vested interest in the website. The ensures that all of the key parties involved have a chance to voice their ideas about their component of your website. 4. Mock-up DesignThe mock-up design process is the cosmetic aspect of the website. I DO NOT USE TEMPLATES IN MY WEB DESIGN! Your site is unique to you and should look like it, not like some cookie-cutter, out-of-the-box solution. I'll draw up three layouts (all nonfunctional, graphical representations of your future site) for you to review for your final site design. From these three, you can pick one by itself, or combine aspects from each of the three versions. It's our chance to brainstorm and find a graphical interface for your website that fits your business. 5. Web Site DesignOnce we agree on the "looks" of your website, then comes the "dirty-work." I'll take the content you and your stockholders have provided and "make" the website. Generally, each page takes up to 10 hours of work to design, test, and revise. 6. Initial RevisionOnce I have created the prototype site, I'll send it to you on CD (or post it at any location you designate). Now is your chance to give it a test run and find out what works and what doesn't. I'll make any revisions you suggest, short of changing the entire design of the page. 7. Usability TestingWhile usability is always a top concern in web design, it never hurts to actually have your site tested for its usability. For an additional cost, I'll develop a plan for the usability testing of your website that will let you evaluate its true "user friendliness." 8. Final RevisionIf the usability testing uncovers any design flaws, I'll work to correct them in the final revision. 9. ImplementationOnce the site is tested and revised, its finally time to "go live." 10. Post Implementation RevisionsThere's always one or two little things that "fall through the cracks." Included in all web design packages is an agreement to fix any minor errors (i.e. - misspellings, small layout errors, etc.) that are found once your site is live. This agreement covers the entire month past the implementation date.
