Here is a picture of the typical rockin' Maupin skyline. Here it is easy to imagine that the world here hasn't been disturbed in millions of years. After all, to be disturbed means that people would have to have been here. Well there probably was people here, but solid rock is tough to change. The Deschutes River may not have the rapids of the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon, but it does have its spots. And you notice the cut here isn't "grand" in anybody's book. What I mean is the Colorado River has cut thousands of feet into the rock at the Grand Canyon, something that has happened here on a much smaller scale meaning that the rocks here are every bit as hard as they look!
