Comments: The situation with Singapore football sucks! Nearly everday we read in the newspapers about more and more comic incidents. Let's start off with our national coach, Vincent Subramaniam and the SEA games fiasco. He pushes all the blame to the players when i is his job to motivate and cultivate a game plan for them. Sure he claims that his tactics did not work because he did not have the players to execute them. The players on show were the best that we have; if he can't direct them to winning ways,if he can t get them playing inj the way that he wants, what do we still need him for? Why don't we just get someone else instead? Next, the Sundram situation. He claims that Sundram is too old, therefore not suitable for the National team. Too old? If you're good nough, you're young enough. Dino Zoff captained the 1982 Italian World Cup winning team at the ripe old age of 40. Sure you've got to develope youth, but you've got to have experience around to guide them and they don't come more experienced than Sundram ho have European experience. Next, the Lim Tong Hai situation. Personally, I'm not a fan of Lim; I think he lacks pace and skill. However, being a senior member of the National Team, he should be informed personally that he is not picked instead of findin out about it from the newspaper, that much is owed to him. You have Vincent Subramaniam saying that it is not an obligation to inform players about their playing situation; well, Mr Vincent Subramaniam, how would you feel if you are sacked from the Natio al coach's job and only finding out about it from the newspapers? Then we have the Yazid situation. I understand that it was claimed he did not want to play for the National Team as long as cetain officials are around. Then you get someone from the FAS cl iming that they will ban players who refuse to turn out for their National Team from playing in the S League. The way I look at it, it is perfectly in Yazid's legal rights to refuse! First of all, the clubs pay the salaries, not the national team. Sure it is an honour to play for your country; but would one still want to play if they are treated like dirt finally, as in the case of Lim Tong Hai? It's tantamount to my employers telling me I'll be sacked from my advertising job if I do not baby sit their kid during the weekends. The players signed a contract with the clubs, not with the National Team. You can bar them from ever playing for their country, not for their clubs. If you ask the fans what they want, an entertaining team or a winning one, they will want both. however sadly, our National team keeps losing and are really, really crap!
Comments: Dear Sir, Mdm Hello, I am a Singaporean Student studying Communication design in Vancouver. I am currently working on a project to promote soccer in Asia region. I have chosen the 4 years old S-league as my case study. It is obvious that Singapore Soccer has not reach the height and most of the clubs are working to promote the sport. In order to achieve great success, we need strategy and a lot of promotions. I am interested to see Singapore football going into a new era and I believe that my current project could soon be implemented with great success. However my lone effort is limited and in order to achieve this dream,I may need your help with some informations. I sincerely hope that you would lend me your helping hand. Thank you, Jackchen Please email to [email protected]

Comments: I was a foreign student studying in Singapore back in 1970s (yes, I took GCE O and A Levels). My classmates introduced me to the wonder of football during the FA Cup final between Arsenal and Ipswich in 1977. I was just as excited as Singaporeans when the national team beat the mighty Red China and the dirty Malaysian National team. We also kicked the bad ass of Hong Kong team. The saddest moment was when the Lions lost a World Cup qualifying match to the North Koreans, in sub-zero temperature, in Pyonyang in 1981. The biggest flop was Fandi's adventure with Dutch Gronigen. It wasn't funny at all when he announced he had been traded to Manchester United on April Fools' Day. So much hope was placed on him....yet he couldn't produce. My favorite players were V. Sundramoorthy, Quak Kim Siong, Dollah Kassim, Aw Yeong Pak Kuan, and Raja Gopal. Hey guys, you should be proud of your national team. I don't have any respect for those who bad-mouth their own country with profane language. By the way, RI and ACS suck. NJC rules!
Comments: Our national players should be more focusing how the european players are training, even though they have such intensive fitness. They should be having friendly games with asian teams but europe teams too. The national players should be training in a way hat their standard are compatiable with europe teams, even though easier say than done but I have faith in our natinal team even though our fans have doubt in the team. They have to focused on teamwork, passion, commitment and vision

It tells me more about the development of football in Singapore. Yes, i agree with your comment on the National Team of Singapor . They'll never improve if they don't put in the money and effort to develop the youths in singapore. the nation's football will always be the same old standard if nothing is done. | Comments: The S-League is OK but the National team is terrible. What a dream to play in the world cup when we can't even beat the Thais. Let me put it this way... Singapore lost to Thailand in SEA games by 2-0 Thailand lost to S Korea by 7-0 in Asian Cup S Korea lost to "All the teams in the group" in the World Cup....So.. what world cup are we talking about? Let's just stick to our kampong football and S-League, don't day-dream..face it! |

Comments: Singapore soccer looks very bleak. In fact it is looking very very bleak indeed. The officials lack interest in the game. The management that FAS appointed are made up of either some kind of businessmen or some politicians. Football should be run soccer experts. Look at Germany. Who did they appoint as their chief soccer ambassador? Franz Beckenbauer. Look at England. Who did they appoint as their chief soccer ambassador? Bobby Charlton. Look at Brazil. Who did they appoint as their chief soccer ambassador? Pele. Look at us. Who did we appoint as our chief soccer administrator? I rest my case. Who is our chief soccer secretary? Who is he? Who is the S-League chairman? Does he even know how to kick a ball? To be 'among' the best...we need the BEST! We cannot settle for second best. Only when we have the best can soccer progress! Good Luck 2010!

Comments: i was a national youth player.i was very talented but in singapore socceris not acareer is only ahobby. if only you could have career after playing is worth to think of acareer in soccer in singapore.the problem is the people that manage the singaporeteam is invovle in politics not bussinessman who will think of making money and succes rather than fame for political career.we also need to look in the infrastructure of the management.it must have acareer path for players after pla ying such as coaching, mana er,scout talent, youth coach, organising comitee, phisio therapist, referee, match officials and etc. ibelieve with courses and guidaince and waive offfor ex national andleague players while the restjust enroll like anormal courseinschools. ithink theres al t oftalented footballer in singapore allthey need is security and confidence that with auniversity degree playing soccerthres acareer in soccer that they can contribute and not to lost ahuge income compare withthe market.anyway theres alot to improve int e web site and theres must be of latest update if you have aweb site not just expect people to brwse but the info is insufficient and backdated especially with the legal betting system ihope to hear from you soon from my email so that i able to get info o the progress good luck

Comments: Despite the great effort put in by the FAS, soccer clubs and the media, many soccer fans in Singapore still long for the return of the Malaysia Cup. Many people in charge of the sports don't seem to know the impact which the Malaysia Cup has on the ordina y Singaporean. Singaporean has a great appetite for good quality football which the Sleague has found difficult to deliver. I would like to propose that the Tiger SEA Cup be played annually and on home-and-away league format. This tournament can be playe over of period of six months and there are many obvious advantages of such a format which I hope the relevant authority would consider. If organised properly, I believe this will go a long way to fill the void left by the Malaysia Cup. Chia Wenn Teck Blk 579 Pasir Ris St 53 #10-77 S(510579) Tel 5837256

Comments: Hi!!! I am a great supporter of the s-league, especially the Tanjong Pagar Jaguars. It's great Singapore won the Tiger cup. After so many years since we last won the Malaysian Cup, it's only fair to the fans that we taste international success. With the s league in progress, the sound mangement. I am quietly confident that there is more to come!!!! Continue supporting s-league and local soccer and who knows, someday we may find ourselves playing in the world cup! Dare to dream!!! Singapore BOLEH!!!!

Comments: The SLeague is too long a period in order to substain the footballing interests of demanding Singaporeans. It is a case of too much too long especially when we tend to compare it with The English Premier League which we follow every weekends. I'll like to suggest that have the SLeague shortened but have another league. A Invitational League with foreign teams. We can Singapore Team A and B, SLeague Foreign Players Team as well as Australia, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam ,Taiwan and the rest of Asi 's top footballing clubs. The expenses shared among the countries and a really attractive prize money(from generous sponsors)for the champ. This should continue to attract fans(=$=Success) and the same time a step towards Singapore's vision of being in th World Cup Finals in 2010. I believe soccer standards in both administrative and on the field will be improved by having such a League...What do you think?

Comments: BID DEAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its nothing to win the tiger cup .just because they have never won it before ,doesnt mean they are good when they win it,right?they are just the champion of monkeys footballers(THAI and INDO).Yes ,they showed BIG improvements, but only now???????? after ba ry has been the coach for a few years ,after 3years in s-league,after millions of tax-payers' money has been spend(or wasted).WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL????? they do not need to play fancy football to impress us,but we just hope that they can make it up with determination.they are showing a lot more now.BUT this is just the begining,so we shall leave the compliments to the next tournament(asian games, maybe.why are they dropped anyway??isn't it clear that some association are disgusted with their attitude towards the game(not ability) let us pray that this is the begining ,not the end
Comments: So great to see Singapore winning its first international tournament even though it haven't won any major compettions!!!So,hopefully Singapore must give their best to get its first SEA gold medal next year as everyone in Singapore are dying to wait for th m to bring glory for our country. However, can one of S-League cluds, SAFFC win Asian Club Championship? Another thing is that I feel that there are too many Malay and several Tamil national players while there are only two Chinese players, Tong Hai and S on Seng. So, I hope to see more Chinese players in the national squad in future so that it can be considered as racial harmony... Thanks for your page as i had a good laugh reading this page.
Comments: Singpore won the Tiger Cup ??..Kind of unbelievable *hehehe* ( not that i'm underestimating the Lions !! ) but its abt time they won some international honours..after pissing off most of the fans with dismal performances, agreed ? In any case..let's hope that success will not rear too much in the Lions' head ..so keep working hard and reap more glory. In the meantime tho' enjoy and celebrate..Cheers !! *Food for Thought* We won the cup without the much raved abt Fandi Ahmad..Cld he be the jinx all these while that wards off good luck for the Lions ???..No offence ..*heheheh*
Comments: It is so sad that the best is not represented in the national taem. Players like Sundram and Adul Malik, Seven Tan. Be fair to them, leave office politics aside. Let bygones be bygones. Select the best and inform to play in the national team. Make th national players fight for the places. Like what our PM has said to look for good foreign players to represent us. Learn from the world champions, France. Please for sake of the nation do things rationally. Appreciate what the ex-internationals have done for the nation. Make them consultants and get them involve in their favourite game again. Fandi should be assistant coach to lend his experience to the national team. Please pay these people reasonably!!! I am really happy for Singapore and FAS for a job well done in the Tiger Cup. At least in such bleck times there is somthing to cheer about. And not forgetting Berry for producing the long waited results. No Fandi still can score!!! And that is good n ws. No more high lops for lone ghost chaser. Hopefully we can win the SE Games gold medal. Good Luck and God Bless.
Comments: On Tiger Cup '98 Between S'pore & Loas Players are not fully commited in a way, playing a half-hearted game. Recovery from counter attacks are rather slow. Second half - not to actual standard of playing, looks loss especially the midfielders who can't even control the ball properly. Even when trowing in a ball, why should a player keep looking at the referee as if they don't know where to stand for throw in. Need to teach the goalkeeper how to have a proper kick?

Comments: I wish that our local player wiil achieve in better stage. Recruite more young players and train them.I know that we S-League can be as good as the J-League and one more thing cut down the number of foreigner .

Comments: please e-mail me i am the new obasf member so i like to know youall better
Comments: With the revamp of the national team, a no. of experience players have been executed. That's great to see this action taking place as some of them have not been performing up to expectations. But again, I don't see why there is need to recall them when FA is looking for replacement just to make up the no. In any case, there should be enough players out there to prove their worth. And also not giving those "executees" the allowance to say that FAS is seeing as a "standby toy". Am I right to say that?

Comments: I love soccer very much. I hope that there is a Singapore 14 a-side chance for me. But I am very short so i have very little chances I know
Comments: It is good to hear that S'pore's soccer coach will no longer be Barry, the 'Idiot' Whitbread anymore next year. Our soccer really suffer a lot under him. Whoever taking over is not really an issue for debate for the time being, as anyone taking over will efinitely better than that 'Idiot'! It is time now for our National Soccer Team's reputation status to climb up the ladder again once this 'Idiot' is gone (forever, if better).
Comments: Tanjong Pagar is doing very well during recent matches.Gombark United is also doing very well as a new team.

Comments: To my opinion, the national squad should be more exposed to soccer played from other countries. On the other hand, the national squad should work harder to be the best among the Asian football. I strongly think that the squad needs a good coach in order to improve themselves. Moreover, the players should have the neccessary skills to represent our country. Then that will make a better Singapore national squad!!!!

Comments: This is a very well done site on Singapore Soccer, keep up the good work! It's very nice to have the results updated so regularly, it makes me come back for more. The arrangements of the graphics and paragraphs are very comfortable to look at and read, not messy. Well done!
Comments: Excellent tribute to Singapore Soccer. Your constant up-dating is the thing that will keep people coming back (which the official s-league web-site fails to do). A complete league table can assist foreigners that visit the site. Also, if possible, news of each individual clubs. Magazine-like. Very readable. How about some photo shots of some players that make the news very week. For example, Noh Alamshah of Sembawang who scored 2 goals this week? Overall, a very good effort. Cheers:)

May be you should try to include scorer table, assist table and league table. You can also put in a S-League All Star Line up at the end of every month.Keep it up! |
Comments: A interesting and creative website! Maybe you can at a League table too to improve your site.

Comments: Sorry folks, there's not really any good local forward at the moment. Tampines Noor Ali seems to be the most exciting midfield talent but it waits to see if he can be a regular in the national team. As for defender and goalie, there is no other choice to make except for the two. As for Chiang Boon Seng as the best coach, I think it is because he is able to create a formidable team out of a group of mediocre players. That seperates him from Vincent Subramaniam who already has a very good team to work on.
