Germany is a key point for the Axis Powers. With their starting force, they can severly cripple Russia and even Great Britain in the first few rounds. I think the one major way to use Germany is to take Africa to gain some IPC's and pressure Russia a bit. Some people say that any good player can take Russia, and its true. However, just because you can take Russia doesn't always mean you should. If you just pressure him so he doesn't advance, and keep a good hold of him from attacking anywhere, let Japan do the rest. The reason I say this is whenever I have gone all out for Russia, I often neglect to defend my own lands back west from the English. A good way to prevent the early take over of Western Europe is to send 1-2 Infantry there every turn. Its cheep, and it is effective. It usually delays the attacker from any type of an assult for awhile.
