I started Karate in 1987 under Master Edward C. Ormanian and have been training there continuously ever since. At the time I was 15 years old, constantly in trouble at school and at home, and mainly wanted to learn how to fight. Mr. O. showed me there is much more to the martial arts than fighting and he taught me how to respect myself and others for which I am forever grateful.
Since 1996, I have also been training in the art of Judo under International Sambo and National Judo Champion Jessey Bouchard at Ultimate Judo and Karate in Lincoln Park, MI. I also trained from 1990 until 1995 in American Sport Karate under World Champion Richard Plowden. Unfortunately, I had to stop training under Mr. Plowden after I entered graduate school and moved quite a distance from his club. I hope to resume training with Mr. Plowden after finishing graduate school.
I have also trained in various other Tang Soo Do and Tae Kwon Do schools for shorter periods of time. I hope to continue studying and teaching the martial arts for many years as it has become a way of life for me and not just a hobby.
