1970's early        Peace River City        The Peace River is a beautiful area to canoe. If you are ever in this area of Florida I would strongly reccomend a canoe trip on the river. But, be warned, the majestic, tranquil area may also be home to the famous biped creature we call the skunkape. Back in the 1970's there were two boys on the river who saw the creature. They saw a large hairy ape-like animal emerge from a cave, jump into the river and swam to the other side. When it got to the other side, it kind of looked around and then walked off on two into the thick brush. The shocked boys reported their sighting and probably never returned to the area.

1970's early       Pinellas Park       Sometime in the early 1970's two men were hunting snakes in the Pinellas Park area. They were by a canal called the Cross Bayon Canal. Here they found huge footprints that measured 18 inches in length! They were human-like in appearance and they lead into a swamp. The hunters decided to track it. They soon encountered the culprit of the prints staring right at them at no more than 20 feet away! The hunters had sensed a bad smell as they were tracking through the swamp and they knew that this creature now standing before them and staring at them was also responsible for the foul odor. The creature was huge and hairy and of course, ape-like in appearance. The hunters did a quick 180 and fled the area.

1970      In the Gulf of Mexico      Maybe the creature could be called the Sea Ape as you will see in this next story. Two fisherman from the Placida, Florida area took their boat out into the Gulf of Mexico. What they thought would be a regular day of fishing turned out differently. While fishing they spotted a very large hairy, man-like creature swimming in the water. The thing swam out into the the gulf and they followed. They reported that the creature swam out at least 29 mmiles. The captain stated that he had seen one of these creatures before swimming underwater.
