RESEARCH PRIORITIES

Research:

The Condensed Matter Physics and Materials Science are two very fast developing areas of Physics. These fields are of primary importance because of their direct influence on (i) our understanding of the fundamental laws of the nature and (ii) the development of modern high-technology products.

Our research centre appeared as a small group on November, 1998, and since then it has been involved in the research of technologically important materials, mainly perovskite-type ceramics, using Computational Physics methods. Nowadays, these methods allow one to study properties of complex materials and discover new phenomena. These novel scientific methods, if used appropriately, can be more powerful and in many cases more precise than the Experimental methods.

During its existence, the Centre has contributed significantly to the research on titanates, crystals with perovskite-type structure. We have been able to find some new effects and phenomena and have also been able to explain numerous experimental results accumulated by other research groups around the world. Our results have been published in the well-known international journals and presented in a number of international conferences in various countries of the Americas, Europe, Asia and Australia. Our Centre is recognized in the World by its works.
