Sam admitted to taking a week off after loosing so many discs at Lakewood. He joined up with old-timers Doug, Jim and Rich at Rengstorf II. Sam started off with a deuce on a drive that ended up two feet from the post on the first hole played. At hole four Jim nailed a long approach shot for a deuce. Twos were hard to find on the score sheet, but all four players hit for deuce on the willow tree at hole eight. Sam scored a deuce with one of his patented skip shots up to the sign post on the make up hole to finish the front nine. Sam's three deuces placed him in a tie with Jim at 28 for the front nine. Rich was one behind at 29, while Doug trailed with 6 bogeys for a a 32.

Jim gained a stroke on Sam at hole ten and Rich gained a stroke on Jim at hole eleven. Jim claimed the lead with a deuce at hole twelve as Sam matched his deuce to stay close. Jim lost a stroke with a bogey at hole thirteen, but settled down to steady play from there out. Sam and Rich bogeyed hole sixteen and Sam unraveled at hole seventeen with a 6. Doug closed out the final two holes with deuces. Sam and Jim closed with deuces at the final flag pole.

Steady play by Jim put him at 55 for the day. Rich was three strokes back at 58. A correction in adding Sam's back nine placed him at 59. Doug wrapped up with a 60.
