Rainy weather greeted six players on the first day of play in 1998. Jim Hauer and son, Eric, Mickelson, John Davis, Doug Korns and Rich Norris all sought the first Winner of the Week for 1998. Mini-Donuts and juice got everybody prepared for the round.

Umbrellas and rain gear wear the necessities of the day as rain punctuated the round several times, but the Deuces played through it all. Rich Norris wore his towel draped out the back of his golf cap to keep dry and became known as the sheik.

Doug finally found the scorecard in May and issued this corrected report. Rich Norris bested the field with a 52. Doug and Eric "struggled" home with 54's, while Jim and John came in at 57 and 58 respectively.

Congratulations to Rich on claiming the first Winner of the Week for 1998.

Someday we'll have a new picture of Rich to celebrate his victories.
