WELCOME

False Bay Surf welcomes all competitors and visitors to Muizenberg, for the 2002 SA National Lifesaving Championships.

Predicting the weather in Cape Town at any time of the year is pretty risky. March has generally provided stunning hot Summer weather but the wind has been known to dampen many spirits.    The one thing that we do know is that we are working on an outgoing and incoming tide throughout the three days of the competition and this in itself should provide plenty of excitement, particularly for the craft events.

The venue for the competition is ideal.   Muizenberg has one of the safest beaches in the world, with a gently sloping bank.     The competition area is to the East of the pavillion with the historic bathing boxes providing a natural border between the arenas and "tent city" where the teams will be situated.

The pavillion will be the venue for all manager's meetings, competitor get-togethers, as well as the after party disco on Saturday evening.    It will also be the centre of activity for the catering and the SAB Champs pub.

Extra events are being staged, such as a Karaoke Competition on the Thursday evening and Touch-Rugby on Thursday and Friday after end of Champs events.

We at False Bay Surf wish you all a pleasant stay and hope that you leave Muizenberg with happy memories of "The Best Champs Ever!"
