Nippers

Nippers start from age 8 up to age 14.   The nippers receive beach safety training as well as training in the various competition disciplines.  The boys and girls have a great deal of fun every Sunday morning during training and the competitions provide them with an outlet for their boundless energy.   

Junior Lifeguards

Juniors lifeguards are boys and girls from age 15 to 18 (Under 19).   They do their Surf Proficiency Award training and when they have received the award they are required to do duties as active lifeguards on the beach during Summer weekends and public holidays.    There are numerous competitions held during the lifesaving season for the juniors, culminating in South African Championships at the end of season.   Training sessions are held every Sunday during which time they are trained in the various disciplines of competition and active lifeguarding.

Senior Lifeguards

A senior lifeguard is 19 years old and older.   They are also required to do their Surf Proficiency Award training and exam, after which they become active lifeguards and are required to do patrol duties on the beach during Summer weekends and public holidays.   There are numerous competitions held during the lifesaving season for the seniors, culminating in South African Championships at the end of season.   Training sessions are held every Sunday during which time they are trained in the various disciplines of competition and active life guarding.

Club Fees for 2001/2002

Nippers, Juniors and Seniors: 
R80 per person plus a craft maintenance fee of R50.

Family Membership: R150 per family

Lifesaving Duty Season

First Duty: First week-end of November

Last Duty: Easter week-end

Duty Times:

Saturday: 2pm to 6pm

Sunday: 10am to 6pm

Public Holidays: 10am to 6pm
