August 21-25th - THE SIXTH TEST AT THE OVAL

Australia retains the Ashes winning the series 3-2.
Man of the Match: ��Phil Tufnell.
Men of the Series: ��Glenn McGrath and Graham Thorpe.

DAY 3

England gained some joy by winning the last test by 19 runs. England lost an early wicket but Graham Thorpe and Mark Ramprakash moved the score to 4/131 before they crumbled due to a fine performance of 7/36 by Michael Kasprowicz to be all out for 162 leaving Australia 124 to win. But Andy Caddick and Phil Tufnell bowled very tightly and Australia were bowled out for 104.

DAY 2

Phil Tufnell got England back into this match by taking 7/66 to bowl Australia out for 220 with no Australian making a half century. In reply though, England struggled to be 3/52 at stumps.

DAY 1

Glenn McGrath ripped through the English top order taking 7/76 bowling them out for 180. In reply, Australia lost Matthew Elliott early and then Mark Taylor fell for 38 off just 42 balls and rain stopped play with 12 overs remaining with Australia on 2/77.

August 16-18th - Australia v Kent at Canterbury

DAY 3

Australia won this match by 6 wickets after they bowled Kent out for 343 with Shane Lee taking 4 wickets and Michael Kasprowicz taking 3 and then scored the 231 runs in just over 50 overs with a few players sharing the runs. Shane Lee's bowling performance may possibly have given himself a start in the 6th test starting on the 21st.

DAY 2

Australia ended their innings all out for 315 with Steve Waugh the last man to fall for 154 and Michael Bevan made 55. Kent were in control at 2/200 before they lost 3/34 to end the day at 5/234.

DAY 1

Australia bowled Kent out for 201 with Michael Kasprowicz and Shane Lee taking 4 wickets each. Australia got into early trouble at 4/40 and then 5/106 before Steve Waugh and Michael Bevan steadied the innings leaving Australia at 5/207 with Steve on 94 and Bevan on 37.

August 14th - Australia v Ireland at Eglinton

Australia easily won this match in the end but were in a little trouble at 5/116 before Ricky Ponting made an unbeaten 117 and Justin Langer made 57 as Australia made 303. In reply Ireland were bowled out for 164 with Ricky Ponting taking 3/14.

August 7-11th - THE FIFTH TEST AT TRENT BRIDGE

Australia win's the Ashes

DAY 4

Australia stumbled as Steve Waugh was caught second ball of the day but Ian Healy then made a superb 63 and combining with Ponting they helped Australia to make 336. England then left with the task of saving the match couldn't do anything and were bowled out for 186 giving Australia their fifth series win over England.

DAY 3

England moved to be 4/243 before they then crumbled to be all out for 313. Australia took even more control of the match as they moved to be 4/167 at stumps with Steve Waugh on 10 and Ricky Ponting on 5.

DAY 2

Steve Waugh went on with his innings and made 75 and with a little help from the tail Australia made 427. England then made a promising start moving to 0/106 before they lost 4/35. Graham Thorpe and Adam Hollioake steadied the innings and at stumps England were 4/188 with Thorpe on 30 and Hollioake on 15.

DAY 1

Australia has taken complete control of this match after only the first days play after they reached 3/302 at stumps. Mark Taylor made 76, Matthew Elliott 69 and Greg Blewett 50. Mark Waugh is unbeaten on 60 and Steve Waugh is 38 not out. Dean Headley, Andy Caddick and Ben Hollioake were the wicket takers for England.

August 1-4th - Australia v Somerset at Taunton

DAY 4

Rain washed out the last days play ending the match in a draw.

DAY 3

Rain washed out any chance of play today.

DAY 2

Australia ended up making 323 with Steve Waugh making 62 and Brendon Julian making 71. At stumps, Somerset were 3/147.

DAY 1

Australia are in a reasonably strong position at stumps having bowled Somerset out for 284 with 5/57 for Shane Warne. Australia were 4/187 at stumps with the Waugh twins unbeaten, Steve on 51 and Mark on 37.

July 24-28th - THE FOURTH TEST AT HEADINGLEY

Australia leads the Ashes 2-1 with 2 tests remaining.

DAY 5

Australia took the lead for the first time in the series when they took the last wicket the first ball after lunch. Nasser Hussain only increased his score to 105 and John Crawley made 72. Paul Reiffel did the damage taking 5/49. Jason Gillespie was named as man of the match after his 7/37 in the first innings.

DAY 4

Australia stumbled in the first few overs in the morning losing two quick wickets but Elliott and Reiffel stopped that with a good partnership. Matthew Elliott was finally bowled for 199 and then Jason Gillespie came and went but Glenn McGrath joined Reiffel and they made an unbeaten 40 run partnership before Mark Taylor declared at lunch. England then got in early trouble at 4/89 but Nasser Hussain and John Crawley took England to 4/212 at stumps. Hussain is unbeaten on 101 and Crawley on 48.

DAY 3

Australia took full control of this match as Matthew Elliott continued his innings slowly and Ricky Ponting Made his maiden test century. He fell for 127 and then Ian Healy joine Elliott to move Australia to 5/373 before rain washed out the remainder of the days play.

DAY 2

Jason Gillespie destroyed England with his career best of 7/37 to bowl them out for 172 after they were 4/154. Australia then crumbled to be 4/50 but Matthew Elliott with 134 not out and Ricky Ponting unbeaten on 86 guided Australia to 4/258 at stumps.

DAY 1

Rain once again caused havoc during hte course of a test with only 2 and a half hours play only. Mark Taylor sent England in and at stumps they were 3/106 with Michael Atherton not out 34 and Dean Headley as nightwatchman on 0.

July 19-21st - Australia v Middlesex at Lord's

DAY 3

This match ended in a draw. Australia batted on to declare at 7/432 with Mark Waugh unbeaten on 142. Middlesex were in trouble at 4/72 but Mike Gatting saved them and the match was called when Middlesex were 6/201. Shane Warne took 3/55.

DAY 2

At stumps Australia were 6/351 with Mark Waugh hitting a four off the last ball to be 100 not out. Matthew Elliott made 83 and Steve Waugh made 57.

DAY 1

Middlesex were bowled out for 305 on stumps. Glenn McGrath took 4/61 continuing his good form with the ball.

July 16-18th - Australia v Glamorgan at Cardiff

DAY 3

This match ended in a draw. Australia declared its second innings at 7/217 and Glamorgan raced to 3/211 bafore the match was called.

DAY 2

Australia bowled Glamorgan out for 254 thanks to a haul of 5/61 by Paul Reiffel and 3/73 by Michael Bevan. At stumps, Australia were 5/100.

DAY 1

Mark Taylor made runs which will keep his confidence up for the next test and Ricky Ponting made a hundred at the perfect time which may get him back in the test side in front of Michael Bevan who didn't bat. Australia made 4/369 declared and at stumps Glamorgan were 0/30.

July 14 - Australia v John Paul Getty Invitation XI at Ibstone

This match was drawn as Australia made 5/267 declared with Matthew Elliott making 95 and Michael Bevan making 54. John Paul Getty were 4/237 when the match was declared.

July 12 - Australia v Scotland at Edinburgh

This match was washed out but Australia would have won quite easily. Michael Slater made 95 off around 80 balls as Australia made 9/278. Before the rain, Scotland were 6/95 but hadn't faced 25 overs so the match was cancelled.

Australia won by 9 runs. Brendon Julian made 106 as Australia compiled 290. Minor Counties were held to 9/281 with 7 players taking wickets.
