1995-96: Injury riddled, Karic missed 13 games last season for the Crunch. Even so, Zoran still managed to finish second in the League in scoring (184) and assists (61). He ony came in on free-kicks during the first two playoff series due to an aging injury but came to life in the finals. The Crunch forward finished second in scoring (51) and first in assists (22). He chipped a ball over the head of a Kansas City sixth-attacker with seconds left in game six to assure Cleveland another championship.
Career: In hs career, Karic has won All-Star honors 7 years in a row, (winning the honor of All-Star Game MVP in '93 and Co-MVP in '95), been named to the First Team All-NPSL 4 years in a row, named NPSL MVP in 1993-94 and was second in voting for the MSL MVP honor. He is a ten-time NPSL Player of the Week and 4-time Player of the Month.
Over the past five seasons, Karic has led the league in numerous catagories, setting records along the way. In 1990-91, he led the MSL in goals, was 1991-92 scoring champ, and led the NPSL in assists in 1992-93. In 1993-94 he led the NPSL in points (267, All-Time record), assists (104, All-Time record), restart assists, goals, and recorded 34 assists in 10 playoff games setting another All-Time record.
He assisted 8 goals on February 4, 1995 surpassing Marinaro's record of 7, and tied Marinaro's record of 18 points in a game on March 17 of the same season.
Zoran began his career at age 10 with a youth soccer center in Beograd, Yugoslavia. He later joined international soccer power Partizan Belgrade, before beginning an indoor soccer career in the U.S. with the San Diego Sockers of the MISL in 1987.
With the help of Karic, the Sockers won championships in 1987-88 and 1988-89. He was a Western Division All-Star as he guided the Sockers on their way to another title in 1989-90, before being traded on March 6, 1990 to the Crunch for Paul Wright. On 9/5/96, Zoran signed a three-year contract extension with the Crunch.
He scored a career high 6 goals in one game on December 21, 1990 vs. San Diego. He has a streak of 66 games with a goal and a streak of 88 games with an assist, bith of which were snaped during the 1994-95 season.
