Don't Forget the Funk? How about the melody? The rhymes. Anything listenable? Li'l Penny has created an incoherent mess of a debut album, an amateurish effort, chock full of clich�d samples (Funky Drummer?), brain dead beats, and a title song which rhymes the word "funk" with "mysterious clunk." Consider this lyric from "Tyra Interlude," a track L.P. has described as "a slow jam."
"Lounging on the sofa/Getting down to business/Got a cough drop in my mouth/smells of lemon eucalyptus."
Please. In closing, don't forget the funk, but by all means, forget this debut.
