2000 Races

With NO training at all over the winter months, save a few runs now and then, and a POOR race at the YWCA Indoor Tri this March, this season's races are in doubt. I may be busy with other things, but I do plan on attending a FEW of these races!

JUNE 2000

Pigman Sprint Tri, Palo, IA (0.5 km swim, 14 mi bike, 3 mile run), 4 June 2000

May be my undoing, since my training's so dismal! But I've done this race several times, and it is usually a good race for me, especially in the run....UPDATE: Did not do this tri; too busy buying a new home!

Manitou Sprint Tri, White Bear Lk, MN (1/3 mi swim, 21 mi bike, 3.1 mi run), 11 June 2000

Another race I've done in the past. Usually an OK race, and a good indicator of bike fitness for me. May not be best after the end of the school year just a few days prior, but should be a good local race!....UPDATE: Squeezed this one in before the closing date of my home, and NOT a pretty sight! Ugh!

JULY 2000

Heart of the Lakes Triathlon, Annandale, MN (1.5 km swim, 40 km bike, 5.4 mi run), 16 July 2000

Didn't do this race last year because I waited too long to enter! (Boo Hoo!) I'm on the ball this season and will sign up! I like this race; it's far enough away to be slightly unfamiliar territory, but close enough to the Twin Cities that I can get home without feeling I've spent an entire day driving!....UPDATE: Once again, I fail to register early enough! Well, maybe next year....

AUGUST 2000

Brewhouse Triathlon, Duluth, MN (1/3 mi swim, 12 mi bike, 2.2 mi run), 6 August 2000

I have done this race, but it's been awhile....Not the best race in terms of locale, but a nice trip up north. Maybe if I tie it in with a bit of camping....Decided most definitely to not do this race; not enough training!

Turtleman Triathlon, Shoreview, Minnesota (1 mi swim, 25 mi bike, 5 mi run), 12 August 2000

Another race has risen from the ashes in Minnesota! Woohoo! I "raced" this event as a "bootlegger" in 1996 as my very first tri. Should be a bit better organized this year, and I should be ready for it! A good race for season's end!....UDPATE: Can you say crash and burn?! With little training, I decided to do this race, and ended up aborting after the bike segment (I was burned out at about mile 18 of the bike!)

I'm ready to race now! (And I'm informed!) (Are you sure? Better check that brain of yours!)

OK, ok, I'm not ready to race --- I need MORE TRAINING!

Boy, you've raced a lot --- and many different events --- I gotta know more!
