THE PAILLARD BOLEX "H8"

This camera represents my first serious foray into the art of regular 8 filmmaking and collecting. And, I haven't even shot a single roll yet! But, like many other Super 8mm filmmakers, I have always had this secret desire to sell all of my equipment for a 16mm Bolex camera system complete with reflex zoom and motor attachment. "Give me lenses with built in diaphragms or give me death," I can hear myself saying in dreams. Thoughts of little old ladies selling me their husbands' complete Bolex systems for $25 dollars "Because you have a sweet face, my boy," danced in my head. Now, you have plunked down your two hundred dollars and perhaps have even shot some film. But wait, don't use all that film! Save some for titles. Courtesy of the Kodak Cine Titler you can make your own. The only requirement is that you get a hold of a Kodak Brownie movie camera to fit into this unit. But, oh, what a wonderfully simple contraption this is! Not to mention the sheer joy of using a piece of equipment more than 40 years old. Of course, you can also use this unit with a Minolta XL-400 or similarly sized Super 8mm camera.
