The Plus Side

| The
portability factor can't be beat on the 25 foot spool movie cameras like the Bolex B8 and Leicina 8mm models. Basically
the size of a shaving kit, these cameras can go anywhere and offer all of
the settings you could think of, or hope for. Variable shutter (dream-on
Super 8mm filmmakers!); variable speed setting (again, Super 8mm offers
only fixed, set speeds); manual aperture on the lens, not inside the camera;
two and three lens turrets with options for any number of lenses you can find; and
no batteries (again, only two cameras I know of in Super 8mm offer that). Well, okay, the Leicina 8mm with the 8-48mm zoom lens does take batteries but it also happens to be the Cadillac of the 25-foot-roll 8mm cameras!
In many ways, these cameras offer more than most beginning filmmakers can handle! |
