And now, a little bit about us:  The University of Iowa Women's Rugby team is a club side, not a collegiate team, a fact that comes with both pros and cons. On the downside, we don't have a schedule that plays us against many strictly collegiate sides (although we do, sometimes), and we're not recognized as a "university sport," meaning we're not coached by paid professionals, nor are any of our athletes ever offered athletic scholarships. What's good about being a club side is that we set our own schedule, we can have anyone we want on our team (including some awesome, experienced talent that is no longer in college), and we don't have to follow any "rules of conduct" off the field. So, instead of playing other Big Ten schools, we play other clubs, some of which are sponsored by a university, as ours is, others of which are not. We usually set matches with other teams in the Midwest, although we have been known to travel as far as Colorado for a tournament. Our truly awesome coaches are Trudy and Dawn. They put us through countless drills, teach us strategy and sneaky tricks, and bring fun things with them to practice, like tackling dummies and scrum machines. * * * * * What else can be said about our team?
