Running is probably one of the most addictive sports there is. Besides being very cheap (the cost of shoes and that's it), running gives you the most exercise in the least amount of time, and has certainly been known to produce great-looking calves, butts, stomachs, etc. It may be painful to get started, and you may suffer sprained ankles, creaky knees and everyday morning soreness, but after a while, it becomes impossible to resist getting up early to achieve that ENDORPHIN high before you start your day.
I started running my freshman year in high school, and have been addicted ever since, running cross-country, track, countless road races and even tackled a marathon my Junior year in high school with my mom, who has been my running partner from the beginning. We are contemplating trying the Chicago Marathon in October '98. I currently run between 25 and 35 miles a week, a number that will have to increase if I want to do that marathon without dying.
My absolute favorite running shoes are Sauconys. They are awesome. Were I live, it's icy and snowy from about October to April, and the Saucony Jazz line gives excellent traction even on ice, allowing me to run outside no matter what (I HATE running inside). They don't mention this when they market the shoes, but they should - they'd definitely sell more in the Midwest. I don't know where I'd be without my Sauconys, and I think that everyone should have a pair.
