The realization of African American music is very important to Omicron Kappa. Knowing that some of the greatest art forms and influences have come out of Africa, we are inclined to place a sometimes special interest in the education of people; about African American Music. Being men of music heiling from the African Diaspora, we have performed many spirituals traditional folk songs, and songs taken from the influence of Africa in concert. Some of which have beenPrecious Lord, writen by Thomas A. Dorsey, and Steal Away; an African American folk song, taken from the times of slavery. Living in the hateful world that we all do one of Omicron Kappa's goals is to help change the the public's demented view of African Americans. The stereo types that are associated with African Americans many times cause people not to take the music that they bring seriously. What can you do? Well, we can all start by having open minds and understanding that God has given us one of the greatest gifts in the world, music.
