For The Second Century Friends of the University of the Philippines Foundation in America is very pleased to announce our Endowment Campaign for the Second Century. This campaign will lay the foundation for our next hundred years of service. It is also a supplement to the Centennial Gift Campaign previously launched in 1997. First, you may ask what exactly is an "endowment". The American Heritage Dictionary defines endowment as "funds or property donated to an institution...as a source of income." Our income allows us to support your Alma Mater now and for the future. The Centennial Gift Campaign will gave a cash lump sum gift whereas the Endowment Fund will retain its principal. As an endowment campaign, we want this program to be successful and long lasting. We also look for a way for each of you to make the most out of your gifts. We have developed a Life Insurance endowment program that allows even modest contributions to be transformed into major gifts. There will be three ways to participate in the program:
Take a serious look at your current insurance portfolio. You may have an old policy with dividends paying the premiums. A current tax deduction may be better than the modest future benefits. Talk to your insurance advisors, they will be glad to help you with as leveraged gift to the Foundation. We have arranged, with Robert D. O’Byrne and Associates, for an easy, cost effective insurance program that allows you to multiply your gift by three, four or five times. Remember, if you health is not what it used to be, there may be a way to participate. Call Jack Bastable at Robert D. O’Byrne & Associates for more information at Phone 816-472-4100. Remember the Foundation does not give tax advice, so please consult your tax counsel regarding deductions. Each of you will receive more information on this exciting program in the coming months. We look forward to building a Multi-Million dollar endowment for the Second Century of the University of the Philippines.
