A GRAND SALUTE TO PROFESSOR ILIO
Professor Dominador I. Ilio inspired MacArthur V. Delos Reyes during his college days at Melchor Hall in Diliman. As Delos Reyes' mentor, teacher in Fluid Mechanics and boss in the Engineering Sciences Department, Professor Ilio made a lasting impression. They became brothers in the Beta Epsilon Fraternity and Professor Ilio stood as Ninong (godfather) at MacArthur and Josefina's wedding. This year, MacArthur V. & Josefina Parras Delos Reyes donated $10,000.00 establishing the Professor Ilio Meritorious Service Award. MacArthur and Josefina wanted to leave a legacy. They wanted to honor such a great man, Professor Ilio. Not only did MacArthur & Josefina show their incredible generosity but their gratitude towards a Professor and a University that changed their lives. MacArthur Delos Reyes graduated in 1966 from UP Diliman with BS in Electrical Engineering. He joined the faculty after graduation and taught engineering courses for the next five years. MacArthur is a registered professional engineer in Ohio, and is presently vice president of engineering of Hirsch Electric, an electrical construction company in Cleveland. Josefina Parras Delos Reyes graduated from UP Diliman with BS and MS degrees in mathematics. She obtained a Ph.D. in Probability & Statistics from Case Western Reserve University. Josefina taught at UP Los Baños & UP Diliman for ten years. She is an assistant professor of mathematical sciences at the University of Akron, Ohio. MacArthur and Josefina currently reside in Parma, Ohio and are blessed with three children, Christina, Myra, and Arthur.
