Inner Harbour Hospital GANS has a long standing history of working in collaboration with the community to serve and benefit Georgia's less fortunate population. This tradition has been continued as Inner Harbour Hospitals was adopted as an ongoing service project from the 1998 February GANS Convention. Inner Harbour is a unique center where Georgia's less fortunate children can begin to heal from various abuses and childhood traumas. Inner Harbour is a non-profit, multi-campus facility in both Douglasville and Rockmart, Georgia. These campuses offer 1200 acres of beautiful wooded landscape, providing a peaceful and natural atmosphere to begin the healing process. Many of these children have detached or non-existing families. click here for more information This is where you can help! We are need of clothing, birthday gifts, and monies to purchase needed items. If you want help and/or have questions and/or ideas, contact: Natalie Haynes Community Service Director
International Nursing Adopt-A-Hospital This project is a collaborative effort working with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in order to reach outside our boarders in response to a call for help from our nursing colleagues in developing countries. Working with the CDC's Internation Health Program Office (IHPO), GANS has identified countries in a state of health emergency. During the 1998 February GANS Convention, GANS challenged individual nursing schools to "adopt" a hospital in this ongoing project. Once a SON has adopted a site, the CDC IHPO is contacted for specific contact names and addresses and further instructions. Statewide, 40% of Georgia's accrediated nursing schools are participating in this project. Special recognition goes out to Brenau University, Emory University, Georgia State University, Georgia Perimeter College, Macon State College, Medical College of Georgia-Athens, Medical College of Georgia-Augusta, Georgia College in Milledgeville, State University of West Georgia, and Valdosta State University. If you or your school wishes to become involved with this project, or just want to know ore about it, contact: Natalie Haynes Community Service Director

AIDS Rememberance Quilt With the donated materials and time from Columbus State University, the AIDS Rememberance Quilt, which was previously begun in 1997, was finally finished in 1999. The finished quilt was displayed for the first time during the 1999 Annual NSNA Convention in Pittsburgh, PA. For a small donation, anyone could leave a personal message on a "foot" which is later ironned onto the quilt. All donations collected went towards AIDS research.
During it's first display, GANS collected over $100.00 for AIDS Research and collected over 80 feet. This is an ongoing project which GANS is committed to continue from year-to-year and another quilt is in the process of being completed to represent ALL nursing schools in Georgia. Look for it's next appearence at the NSNA Annual Convention in Nashville, TN.
