2007 NEWS Diary

Sana ganito araw-araw!

ALFONSO, CAVITE, January 27, 2007 May the friendship and brotherhood that God has granted us last forever, was the fervent wish of the SBCHS75 men as Boy Masakayan led a solemn prayer as they prepared to break-up for the day after a memorable reunion held at Royale Tagaytay.

As early as 7:00 A.M., the guys trooped to the leisure resort for a whole day of fun, games and a lot of food and drinks in a special reunion in place of the usual Christmas party last year.

Royale Tagaytay is a family resort some 2 hours south of Metro Manila. Among the facilities are a 9-hole golf course, basketball court, tennis court, swimming pool, 10-pin bowling lanes, billiards, table tennis, and badminton. The restaurant offers a mouth-watering international cuisine with an unbelievably generous lunch buffet. Boy gave his batch mates and their families free use of the facilities that day.

Those who attended were Roy Abesamis, Jito Arreza, Joel Baares, Rico Bautista, Alex Depante, Bobby Gadia, Bebet Gaudinez, Gabby Go, Jess Gonzales, Toti Guevarra, Andy Hirang, Rhett Jeturian, Mario Katigbak, Chibu Lamug, Aris Malabanan, Abet Mariano, Ira Maniquis, Pris Martinez, Boy Masakayan, Jojo Ocampo, Jun Perez, Manny Pica, Butch Reyes, and Mike Reverente.

Bobby, Toti, Mario, Aris and Jun brought along family members while Jess had with him a special friend.

The following were some of the days highlights:

The avid golfers tore the fairways apart with 2 rounds that day. One flight consisted of Joel, Jito, Ira and Alex while the other was composed of Andy, Chibu, Jojo and Gabby.

As expected, Andy romped off with top honors. The complete 1st round results are as follows: Andy 66, Jito and Chibu 73, Jojo 76, Alex 78, Joel 79, Ira 82, and Gabby 101.

The 2nd round that was played after lunch was prompted by Gabbys insistence to vindicate himself from his earlier performance. Gabby did play a lot better in the afternoon however the results were not available.

Again, the gentlemen golfers vowed not to reveal the par of the course. Aris and Mike made like Federer and Nadal. The two have a fierce running tennis battle. Aris took the 1st match, 8 6 while Mike stormed back with a similar 8 6 in the 2nd. However, a deciding 3rd match did not push through with Aris suffering cramps.

An interested spectator in the tennis match was Toti. Sino ba yong mga naglalarong matatanda at malalaki ang tiyan? he yelled as he announced his presence.

Reminiscent of the Corona days, Toti, Bobby, Butch and Boy played billiards.

Host Boy was all over the place as he ferried out in the golf course, billiard hall and lanai where the other guys hung out.

The top choice in the lunch buffet was lechon kawali. Just about everyone gorged on the dish except, of course, Bebet and his mates.

As usual, Jess threatened to blow-up the place with his firecrackers but was prevailed upon not to by well-meaning batch mates.

Abet, Mike and Pris downed a large Chivas bottle brought by Jito. This was followed up by several bottles of beer.

At the tambayan table, it was amazing how Bebet, Roy, Aris and the other guys put up with Abets affectionate tirades directed at Pris and anyone he can think of.

Manny discussed and endorsed a form of liquid treatment for ailments that also improves ones physical condition. Boy has tried the treatment and agrees with Manny but some of those who heard Manny talk about it thought it was despicable.

Jun, whos very much at home in Tagaytay, was haunted by his boss on the cell phone. He was supposed to be in Cebu but escaped with his family to be with batch mates. Gov. Jun is touted to become Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas governor one day.

Ira was waiting for Jojo to become the first golfer in history to fall asleep while putting. During his high school days, Jojo automatically falls asleep in class when his body touches the backrest of his chair. Those present talked extensively about those absent. Kawawa ang mga wala!

Through it all, it was one great day. Hindi mauubos ang kuwento. There were games and food and drinks but everyone enjoyed simply being with batch mates and friends.

Regardless and no matter what achievement or position each one of us has in his career and life, what matters is we will always be here for each other, Boy said in our prayer.

Before starting his 2nd golf round, Jito sighed what best describes how everyone felt that day. Sana ganito araw-araw, he said.

2007 SBCHS 75 SoCal Halloween Bash !

The 2007 SBCHS 75 SoCal Halloween Bash was held last Saturday, Oct 27th at Da Basement Decks. Clad in funny & scary costumes, the boyz started to arrive at 6pm. Mon & Donna came as the Phantom of the Opera and Christine (daughter Anya dressed up as Wednesday). Butch Halog was Darth Vader. Seph Yu was Iron Chef. Raffy & Sheila Bajamundi came as a Medeival Knight and Renaissance Princess.

Sonny & Zelda Alejandre came as Mr. Dracula and Mrs. Dracula. Bunny Gayon was a scary monster. Butch Corcino was Captain Jack Sparrow and Ann Corcino was a Roman goddess. The Corcino boys also came in costume (as cop and fireman). Dwight & Carol Sityar (Dwight is George's older brother) came as Prince Charming and Sleeping Beauty. Bubut and Menchi Guitarte "lost their heads" and arrived as King Louis XO and Marie-Antoinnette. Host Caes Anonas was Osama Bin Laden (without the beard) and wife Susan was Elvira. Al Alcantara came as a scary red devil.

Jojo Padua arrived late dressed up as himself coming from a strikeout/ not-so great dinner-date (kaya tumuloy na lang sa Basement).

A short prayer in remembrance of Jay Canilao and all our departed classmates was said before dinner. We also toasted those who are not able to join us from near and afar. You guys are always in our minds every time we get together.

There were lots of food cooked & bought by everyone: lechon kawali, lumpiang shanghai, mongolian beef, menudo, mac & cheese, spaghetti w/meatballs, pan de sal, deep fried chicken wings, jeproks and sisig. We washed it down with beer, wine and soda. For dessert, there were lots of sansrival from Goldilocks and home made guinatang halo-halo.

The costume contest was won hands down (more like heads off) by Bubut and Menchie Guitarte's custom and homemade attire. Runner up was Al Alcantara and honorable mention to Sonny Alejandre.

We watched videos of past activities such as Christmas balls and other gatherings. The weather was great -- paring nasa Manila on a December night. A great time was had by all. The party wrapped up at around 3 in the morning. (by Caes A.)

TIPAR SA RANCHO!

RANCHO de Buhay,TRACY,CA Dec. 29: (ni Wally B.) Grabe, pare!!!

Whether it was to bid 2007 farewell or to greet 2008, last night was a big, big, big BLAST!

Pictures and stories top follow. For now, the result... only one winner, Sonny VD.

After many, many attempts, he finally guessed the following new faces:

1) Himself (Sonny)

2) Francis Baello

3) Eddie Boy "Brown" Diaz

Francis, thanks for coming. Wala ka pa rin pinagbago. Mas mataas pa din si Sonny sa iyo.

Brown, hats off, men... (no, pun intended). Do not be a stranger. Norcal is also your home.

Sonny, enjoy the baktubak shirt... next time banned ka na sa trivia... sobra kang masigasig.

Ang gandang lalaki ni Joji, pati ang tahi sa dibdib. Really nice to see you without the breathing tubes.

Arnel converted his Land Cruiser into a cozy ambulance to drive our beloved Joji. Magaling na care-giver na, hot lover pa (accdg to Leda).

Tatang Ernie, drove the point to to smokers... stop smoking or else you will get a t-shirt from him to remind you so.

Mr. Gee (Gilbert)'s hands are so rough from arnis (or kalalaba at palo-palo).

To Leda, Paz, Mel, Monette, Marian and Gigi, thank you, thank you at thank you ulit for celebrating with us and for sharing your husbands. But thank you, most of all, for taking care of our classmates and for loving them... (despite).

To everyone, God bless you and your loved one, always.

-- Wally and Charito
