The
Dispossessed by Ursula Le Guin
This novel takes place in the future in a society like the old Soviet Union. It deals with the difficulty of the individual in society. It's one of Le Guin's more "earth-bound" novels. It's a little depressing, but still a great read. |

For those who like novels set in a well-developed alien world, Left
Hand of Darkness is a wonderful novel. The aliens are empathetically
imagined and reveal a great deal about us.
