The young wild-elf Lysana first entered the Realm of Shadowdale with the help of two good friends of hers, Jean, the dwarven cleric-warrior and Stravin, the human sorceror-cleric-warrior. The oddly-matched group began their adventuring in the forest to the east of the city of Shadowdale killing small woodland creatures such as bunnies and butterfiles. Lysana quickly discovered that this was not the life for her, and took up the way of the ranger, pledging to fight for good and to protect all good aspects of nature.
Lysana and her two friends encountered many setbacks in their adventuring, and did not rise quickly in the ranks of Shadowdale society. They did not let that stop them, though, and the three friends continued to battle for good, destroying the evil found in the Jermlaine Tunnels and in Dankmoors time and time again.
After about two months together in the Realms, it became necessary for Jean and Stravin to spend more time in the place called, by some, "Real Life," and Lysana found herself adventuring alone from time to time. She began meeting many new people, one of which a man who tried to draw her from the path of good. Though very tempted, she managed to overcome the lure of evil. She soon found her path crossing that of another young fighter for good, a paladin by the name of Aria, and the two became fast friends.
Then, one day, the Realms disappeared! Lysana found herself entirely unable to reach or enter Shadowdale. After about a week of trying to enter the Realms, she was finally successful, but she learned that for the next month, nothing she did would have any effect on her future. She found that this did not interest her much, and she took a bit of a break from adventuring.
Lysana's short break, however, lasted much longer than she had planned, and it was nearly five months later when she stepped out of her room in the back of the Old Skull Inn and wandered out onto the moonlit North Ride. She returned to adventuring some, but she found she was spending her days sitting in the tavern at the Old Skull and saving her travels for the nighttime. She found that she could hunt more effectively hiding in shadows and using the light of the moon than she could ever do in the light of the sun.
One evening, as Lysana was resting in the Common in Shadowdale, another young adventurer, a wild-elf like herself, joined her there. The two were the only people sitting there at the time, so Lysana began a conversation with the elven traveler, who introduced himself as Kessel. They talked for a long time, first about the Realms, and then the conversation turned to stories from their pasts. The two young adventurers soon made a startling discovery: they were siblings!
Lysana adventured with her older brother very frequently. The young warrior-thief knew about places in the Realms that Lysana thought only legend, and was able to show her many things she had never known existed. A very strong bond grew between the two, and they spent nearly all of their time together. Also, Lysana was finally making advancements in her rank that she had once never imagined possible.
Then one afternoon while Lysana was sleeping, a horrifying shift occured in the Realms. When all was righted, many new adventurers had gone missing, and those who had recently advanced in the Realms, like Lysana, found themself once again knocked back to low levels. Lysana became very depressed by her sudden inferiority after she had been so high such a short time ago, and she again left her adventuring life for a while.
Lysana's spirit for adventure would not allow her to remain depressed for long, and after a short break she returned to the Realms with a much-renewed enthusiasm for adventuring. With newfound knowledge and aid from a few friends, she began the climb up through the ranks of Shadowdale society. She moved very quickly this time because she had studied during her time away from the Realms and she knew much better how to take care of herself in the wild.
She was adventuring with various people now, and from time to time she would even lead other adventurers in their travels. She made many powerful friends who were willing to help her when she needed it, and she was able to help them, as well. She even managed to befriend a few of the deities of the realm, as much as any mortal can befriend a god, at least.
She has now reached the highest point any mortal in Shadowdale can reach. She still enjoys adventuring, though, and she spends time adventuring for fun with good friends such as Taeric, Aergoth, Duithal, and Quinfall. She also likes to help those lower than herself in her free time, because she knows how difficult it was for her to advance, and she also knows that she had it easier than many do.
But now, more often than not, when she is about in the Realms, Lysana can be found sitting on a bench on the shore of Lake Faeglyn talking to a certain friend of hers....
