Lobbyist Sara Pike
Sara Pike is a Bay City Central High School Sophomore. While at Student Congress in Lansing, she was a lobbyist for the National Center on Education and Economy, or the NCEE.
I'd like to say Hi to all the Senators out there. Don't forget to vote in favor of Bill #1. There will be free Skittles for everyone who votes in favor of it!
It's a deal!
Q: What were your duties?
A: I was a page in the Senate. (messenger)
I also worked on our lobby bill and our advertising committee, and I was the "PR" person for the NCEE.

Q: What is Student Congress?
A: It's about learning how our government is run. It also gives you a taste of what politicians do, so if you want to work in the Government, this is for you!

Q: How can someone get involved in Student Congress?
A: Talk to Mrs. Bruder and ask about Discussion Festival the previous Spring.

Always wear comfortable shoes while working the floors of the House and Senate! (Sara is delivering messages for Senator Smrecak in this picture.)
Sara brought our team mascot to Student Congress. Here she is; we call her Sally the Camel.
Q: What did you learn in Lansing?
A: Pay attention, because if you don't, you could vote for something you don't want! Wear comfortable shoes, especially if you are a lobbyist. You will do a lot of walking!

Q: "Student Congress is for someone who..."
A: wants to be a politician or wants to have a lot of fun learning about government.

Final comments: "Skittles are fun for everyone, so vote for Lobby Bill #1!"
(We bribed Senators and Representatives with Skittles. Some actually took the bribe. Our bill still did not pass!)
