The Digital Art
of Fr. Reg Tiongson

Father Regalado V. Tiongson was born November 10, 1965 of Arturo Tiongson and Pacita Ventura from Orani, Bataan. He graduated from the San Jose Seminary in Ateneo Campus with a degree in Philosphy and Theology. Father Reg is now with the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Cubao Quezon City and the Bishop's House in Iba, Zambales.

Now a Visual Communication freshman at the University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts, Father Reg was among the top five students who took the college's Talent Determination Test last year. Father Reg certainly has artistic talent and has won several art competitions among them the 1st prize in Bataan's Science Fair and Poster- Making Contest, and 3rd prize in the Region III Science Fair and Poster-Making Contest. In 1986 he won first prize in the Seminary Formator's National Logo Competition.

Endowed with much talent in the traditional medium, Father Reg has quickly made the computer tool a useful means of creating art and communicating his ideas. He has been able to use one of our class exercises, a simulation of various traditional media, into a cover graphic for their parish newsletter. Clearly for Father Reg, the computer had the potential of becoming a very powerful means of presenting a message.

"Talents are God-given," says Father Reg, "and these must be used as a service to the community. Taking Fine Arts now is the time of my art development and an opportunity to immediately use it in Church evangelization."
