It was rather disappointing (severe understatement) that we couldn't transfer to a real school. My next chance was to try to transfer there by myself. I went over there, visited it, and was somewhat impressed with the place. I went to the head of Peduel to talk me transferring. He explained to me, he was very sympathetic and understanding to the way we'd been treated, but he explained that there was a small problem.

Paduel received its payment for the amount of kids it had from BA, and for however long they were kept. As it was there ere eight kids, he could work with a few less, but not, less then five. He made it clear, but without saying anything, that he did not want this to turn into a babysitting service for Benjy Lanscrum, the one with CP, and severe mental disorders.

I very much understood that. BA had been surprising hosts with a mentally and physically handicapped kid, and not giving any warning, or apology to the places. No group wanted to complain...they'd come off as prejudiced..."But we don't have the facilities to take care of him."

"Racists!!! It's not his fault he's like that." Maybe those shouldn't be in quotes, they weren't actually said, but those were the general points.

Anyway, that created a small problem for me. Remember, we had eight people there. Guy was enlisted to joint the army. Vegard and David had been attentive enough to be called back to Malei Gilboa, where I had been too sick to study. That means I couldn't go. That means that the rest of the time in "Yeshiva," I spent in this mechina, learning the bare minimum to qualify under the title of learning, all in the West Bank.

There was just one upswing. Tzviker called in for us to B'nei Akiva telling them that we decided not to go to Machon Meir. He did it on speaker phone, with all of us in a circle, so we all could listen.

""... ? [Alo, yachol ledaber im Michal?] (Hello, can I please speak to Michal?) I view Michal as somewhat of the Henry Kissinger of the whole leadership. Even though she is incredibly sneaky, (though nowhere nearly as intellegent as he was) she is the only one from the entire corrupt administration not to either resign in shame, or to be kicked out. Following with the parallel, nobody sees anything wrong with what's been done.

OK, we now return...

"., , " [Shalom, zeh Tzviker Deutsche mi Paduel, bishviel hahachsharah.] (Shalom, this is Tzviker Deutsche for the Hachshara.)

"." [ken] (Yes.)

" , , . ..." [anachnu dibarnu al zeh, vechashavnu, vehem lo rotzim lalech le Machon Meir. Hem chashvu...] (We spoke about it, and we thought about it, and they do not want to got Machon Meir. They thought...)

". ?" [Shniya, aval eich atem yadetem sheh zeh Machon Meir?[ Hold on a second. How did you know it was Machon Meir?)

Classic line approaching...

"? ?" [Mah? Anachnu tipshim?] (What? Are we stupid?)

"?" [Ma?] (What?)

" - -, , ." [Hishtamashnu be'achad arbah arbah, vesha'alnu hamispar lemachhonMair, vesha'alnu otam al habanim mi b'nei akiva.] (we used 1-4-4 {information}, asked for Machon Meir, and asked them about the guys from B'nei Akiva who'd be coming.)

We're all sitting around inn this circle, wearing million dollar smiles. We lost a battle, and quite possibly the war with B'nei Akiva, but we got them in the process.

More so, than we had even expected or suspected. Our discovery led to yet another round of firings and screamings through the BA bureaucracy.

"How could you possibly know...It's the most hellish, chilling feeling in the world. I scream with every bone in my body to get out of it. My mind cries to get out of it. But I can't. Not now. One day I will though. I'll want you around on that day, friend. I'll need you on that day.'" - Chaim Potok, The Chosen
