Primary Mission: Political action via two main branches within the organization: lobbying the Alaska State Legislature, and by direct community action.
Status: Non-profit; as needed ACR-PAC (Alaskans for Civil Rights Political Action Committee) shall be activated as a related but separate and distinct entity.
Membership: Open to anyone who: (a) affirms ACR's purpose, (b) supports the organization, and (c) pays annual dues.
Annual dues: $25.00
Governing Body: Currently via an executive committee appointed from among fifteen members of an interim board.
ACR Board of Directors membership: Fifteen individuals representing as broad a cross-section of Alaska's geography as possible (limited to no more than six members from any one area, with no less than two members from areas outside of Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Juneau). ACR Board members are individuals who serve by actively working for the organization and who: (a) affirm ACR's purpose, (b) bring talents, skills, expertise, and/or insight to the Board, (c) support the organization, and (d) pay annual dues. Members of ACR's interim executive committee serve as secretary, treasurer, and so on at this time.
Elections: Annual; to next be held as soon as practical after the current membership drive is completed. The chairs of board members who for whatever reason do not make several meetings or attend to tasks will subsequently be considered open and may be filled by appointment.
Meetings: The ACR executive committee meets via teleconference from 5:30pm to 7:30pm on the first (sometimes second) Wednesday of each month. ACR working group meetings (committees, subcommittees, and so on) are held as often as useful or necessary--often via teleconference--by the various groups as they attend to their tasks. The entire membership of the organization is invited to physically meet in one location once each year, at the annual meeting (the location of which annually rotates from one region of Alaska to another). ACR meetings are open to all members and their invited guests.
