Smudge Trappīs Favorite Snack ( Dog Cookies ) - by Nancy Trapp

3 1/2 c. flour, 1 pkg. yeast
2c. whole wheat flour, 1/4c. warm water
1c. rye flour, 2c. chicken stock or other liquid
1c. corn meal,2c. cracked wheat
1 egg mixed with 1T. milk
4 tsp. salt
Put first 7 ingredients in large bowl. Soften yeast in the warm water and add to chicken stock (or whatever liquid you use: bouillon, pan drippings, gravy, etc) Mix into dry ingredients with strong spoon or hands. The dough will be stiff, if too stiff to handle, add more liquid. Divide dough into quarters and roll out on floured board to about 1/4 inch thickness. Cut into "doggie" shapes (whatever shape your dog may like). Place on ungreased cookie sheet, brush with egg and milk mixture. Bake at 300o for 45 minutes. Turn off heat and leave to harden overnight. If you do not have room in your oven for all of them, just let them dry in a dry place until hard. Make about 100 (two inch) cookies for the dog only.
