ANPU/ANUBIS

[anpu holding scroll]ANPU - For quite awhile, I was afraid to ask Anpu for any help, as I had been told during my introduction to the Netjer, that if Anpu appeared, it would mean that I was dead and He was here to escort me to the Underworld. Now I know a much different side of Anpu.

The first time I "saw" Anpu was only as an enormous black shadow against a shadow.  He is incredibly tall (at least 7 feet, because He was standing in front of my front door and His head was above the doorframe), very well muscled, great shoulders and strong arms.  He is the one I've asked for many times when I needed held and loved.  Those arms of His just seem to swallow you up, but you feel so safe and secure.


I use snowflake obsidian to contact Anpu at my altar, along with a black candle...simply because I know black candles remove negativity, and that is certainly what Anpu does for me.  I dearly love Him, for all his gentleness, kindness and tender loving care.  He holds a very special place in my heart.  Anpu has told me I can speak of the love He shares with Bastet.

Anpu has been picturized by many as a Jackal, or a man with a Jackal's head.  I have seen Anpu as the latter....very tall, dark skin with almost a fur rather than body hair.  Blue and red arm bands on his upper arms.  Generally however, it is more His "presence" than His presence, that appears to me.
