"On a number of occasions, Our Heavenly Mother appeared to Sr. Faustina,
with revelations that echo the urgency of this message of God's mercy:
On the Feast of the Annunciation, 25th March 1936, Our Heavenly Mother
said to Sr. Faustina: "...I gave the Saviour to the world, as for you,
you have to speak to the world about His great mercy, and prepare the world
for the Second Coming of Him, who will not come as a Merciful Saviour but
as a just Judge. Oh, how terrible is that day... the angels tremble before
it, speak to souls about this great mercy, while there is still time for
granting mercy..."
In December 1936, Our Lord said
to Sr. Faustina:
"Speak to the
world about My mercy,
let all mankind
recognise My unfathomable mercy.
It is a sign
for the end times, after it will come the day of justice.
While there is still time
let them have recourse to the fount of My mercy, he who does not pass through
the gates of My mercy must pass through the gates of My justice... Before
the day of justice arrives, there will be given to people a sign in the
heavens. All light in the heavens will be extinguished, and there will
be great darkness over the whole earth. Then the sign of the Cross will
be seen in the sky, and from the openings where the hands and the feet
of the saviour were nailed will come forth great lights which will light
up the earth for a period of time. This will take place shortly before
the last day."
Pope John
Paul II seems to have a strong sense of this urgency. In 1981, at the Shrine
of Merciful Love in Collevalenza, Italy, he stated that from the very beginning
of his ministry he has considered the message of mercy as his "special
task," assigned to him by God "in the present situation of man, the Church
and the world." In four of his encyclicals he speaks repeatedly of the
year 2000 as the "new Advent" and stresses that we are now living in a
special time of preparation for the new coming of the Lord. He urges us
"to implore God's mercy for humanity in this hour of history.... to beg
for it at this difficult, critical phase of the history of the Church and
of the world as we approach the end of the second millennium"."
THE WARNING OF
OUR LADY OF AKITA
"'After
eight years of investigation the message of Our Lady of Akita was approved
by the bishop of the diocese after consultation with the Holy See in a
pastoral letter issued by Bishop Ito of Niigata, April 22,1984. The message
given by Our Lady at Akita Japan on October 13, 1973 (actual anniversary
of the final vision of Fatima) is as follows:
OUR
LADY'S MESSAGE
"Many men in this world afflict the Lord. I desire souls to console Him
to soften the anger of the Heavenly Father.... ln order that the world
might know His anger, the Heavenly Father is preparing to inflict a great
chastisement on all mankind. With my Son I have intervened so many times
to appease the wrath of the Father: I have prevented the coming calami-
ties by offering Him the sufferings of the Son on the Cross, His Precious
Blood, and beloved souls who console Him and form a cohort of victim souls.
[see LIFE OFFERING], Prayer, penance and courageous sacrifices can soften
the Father's anger...' "if men do not repent and amend their lives the
Father is going to inflict a terrible chastisement on all of mankind. It
will be a punishment greater than the deluge, such as no one has ever yet
seen. A fire will fall from heaven and will annihilate a great part of
humanity... the good as well as the bad, sparing neither priests nor faithful.
The survivors will find themselves so desolate that they will envy the
dead. The only arms which will remain to you then will be the Rosary and
the sign which the Son has left. Each day recite the prayers of the Rosary.
With the Rosary, pray for the Pope, the bishops and the priests. The action
of the devil will infiltrate even into the Church in such a way that one
will see cardinals opposing cardinals, bishops against other bishops. The
priests who venerate me will be scorned and op- posed by their conferees;
churches and altars sacked; the Church will be full of those who will ac-
accept compromises and the demon will press many priests and consecrated
souls to leave the service of the Lord. He will rage especially against
souls conse- crated, to God. The thought of the loss of human souls [not
lives] makes me sad. If sins increase in number and gravity, there will
be no longer pardon for them.'
The events of Akita have been
confirmed by definite miracles, two of which are Cited by the Bishop in
his pastoral letter. Mary's statue at Akita shed tears one hundred and

fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for
images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.

sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of
their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie,
and worshipped and served created things rather than the Creator-who is
for ever praised. Amen.
Because
of this God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged
natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned
natural relations with women and inflamed with lust for one another. Men
committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the
due penalty for their perversion. Furthermore,
since they did not think it worthy while to retain the knowledge of God,
He gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done.
They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and
depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They
are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they
invent ways of doing evil; they
disobey their parents; they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless.
Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things
deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also
approve of those who practise them."

"First
of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing
and following their own evil doers. They will say, "Where is this 'coming'
He promised? Ever since our fathers died, everything goes on as it has
since the beginning of creation." But they deliberately forget that long
ago by God's word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water
and with water.
By
water also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. By the same
word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for
the day of judgement and destruction of ungodly men.
But
do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like
a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not
slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient
with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
But
the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear
with a roar, the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and
everything in it will be laid bare.
Since
everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you
to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives. As you look forward to the
day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction
of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. But in
keeping with His promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new
earth, the home of righteousness. So
then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort
to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with Him. Bear in mind that
our Lord's patience means salvation,"

Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied
about these men:
"See,
the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones to judge
everyone, and to convict all the ungodly of all the ungodly acts they have
done in the ungodly way, and of all the harsh words ungodly sinners have
spoken against Him."
These
men are grumblers and fault finders; they follow their own evil desires;
they boast about themselves and flatter others for their own advantage.
But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ
foretold. They said to you, "In the last times there will be scoffers who
will follow their own ungodly desires." These are the men who divide you,
who follow mere natural instincts
and
do not have the Spirit."

is just :

will pay back trouble to those who trouble you
and
give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well.
This
will happen when the lord Jesus is revealed from heaven
in
blazing fire with his powerful angels.

will punish those who do not know God

The feast of Saint Joseph is celebrated
