Have you decided in which direction this American artist is taking his work? Well, there is still another room after this one that may be more revealing.

WELCOME TO QUESTER'S ARTIST QUARTERS, THE ATHENS-OLYMPUS SITE.

THIS SECOND ROOM OF OUR GALLERY

NOW THOSE CHILD-LIKE PRIMARY COLORS BEGIN TO TAKE OVER

Classical ART this might not be, but what it lacks in this area is more than made up for with it's virtual abandonment of form and content. I'm pulling your leg. Some of this art is full of both.

I did some charcoal sketches of the way I pictured Don Quixote back in time and the other day I dug it out of my storage shed. It was a little on the "moth-eaten" side of being ruined by water damage and little critters eating on it. It was drawn in 1975.

This is the famous Cuttysark, an interesting work since the night it was finished something peculiar happened. The sky background seemed to have changed. It was done in 1974. Click on the small picture and see more detail in the larger one. When the artist woke in the morning, the sky was a different one than he had painted. Must write a short story about that period. Many things were not what they seemed! Especially my marriage! It had changed overnight also!

The search for style ended during this time. Wide brush and palette-knife took over. The object was not to make a picture look like a photograph, that's what cameras are for. The object is to give hints and let the observer fill in from their subconscious what makes the image take shape into something identifiable.

This one is called: Marseille harbor. I painted it in 1973.

Or take for instance this one, called Female In Tunsia, (that eye has fixed you in it's stare. It was done in 1975.

Hummmmm, maybe it's the artist that has you fixed with the stare of his eyes. My, there seems to be a surplus of hair on the face and head of the artist. This must have been the apex of his artistic bent. Too bad the hair went the same way as the talent.... just sort of "drifted" off.

After many trips to his favorite city in Europe, Venice, a painting had to come out of it. The canal is eating away at it's foundation, but it still is an unusual building. I did the first one in 1970 and gave it to my mother. Then I wanted one for myself and did it over again in 2004.
In an entirely different vein is this picture of a cartoon character looking up at her.... and you must fill in the blank. Once again a bachelor, I did this one in 1974.

Again, it is time to go to the next room in our gallery.
