Hamutal's Poetry Page

This is a small selection of my more recent poems

My Heart - a Pounding Piece of Flesh -
My Blood is boiling hot
It makes small Punctures in my Veins
It drips - so I shall not

And through these Punctures - I escape -
My Soul a Refugee -
It breaks its Way out of my Grip -
It runs away from Me

Now I am empty - I am dry -
At last - My soul is free -
Free from the Boundaries of My Life -
To be what it may be -

My Life had stood - a Loaded Gun -
For more than twenty years
And every time I had it aimed
A Being interfered

You cannot do it now - It said -
You are not ready yet
To conquer those Forsaken Lands -
To seize them by yourself

And every time that Being spoke
The further I withdrew
Until - eventually - I stopped
To try and see it through

But then one day - I let it drop
And on the Ground it fell
And fired - thus condemning Me
To My Eternal Hell.

When I was but a child
My spirit leaped in joy.
I was abrupt and wild
As every girl and boy.

But as I grew I found
My soul had to be taught.
My freedom then I bound,
My liveliness forgot,

My fancies I detained,
My passions I denied,
My images restrained,
My thoughts and words confined,

My spirit I have tamed
To fit into your world,
And now my soul is maimed,
And now my soul is old.
