Anna Maria Anastasia Schreck

Great Great Grandmother of Anna Herold Schneider

Anastasia Schreck was born in Rudenthal, Germany, on 18 Nov 1775, the fourth child and second daughter born to Franz Josef Schreck and Maria Anna Gartner of Rudenthal. On 3 Feb 1796 she married Josef Anton Popp in Hardheim. Although they were married nearly 36 years, only two children were born to the couple: Georg Ignaz Popp and a child that died at birth in 1799. Asatasia (Schreck) Popp died about eight months after her husband ob 6 Nov 1832 at the age of 57.

Franz Josef Schreck was born in Rudenthal, Germany, on 22 May 1743. He was the only son of Johann Valentin Schreck and Anna Maria Berberich of Rudenthal. On 5 Jun 1731 he married Maria Anna Gartner, (4 Jun 1744--4 Jan 1814), the daughter of Thomas Gartner and Anna Maria Horn in Rudenthal. They had seven children--five sons and two daughters. Franz Josef Schreck was 59 when he died 13 Sept 1802. Maria Anna (Gartner) Schreck died tweleve years later, on 4 Jan 1814).

Johann Valentin Schreck

Johann Valentin Schreck was born in Rudenthal, Germany, on 31 Dec 1702. He was the eldest son and the fourth of nine children born to Valentin Schreck and Regina Margaretha Billinger, both of whom had been born in Hardheim. On 5 Jun 1731 he married Anna Maria Berberich, b. abt 1712 in Hundheim, the the daughter of Sebastian Berberich and Eva _____. Between 1732 and 1747, Anna Maria gave birth to five children. Johann Valentin Schreck died just short of his 68th birthday, on 28 Sept 1770. His wife was about 60 when she died two years later on 22 Aug 1772.

Valentin Schreck

5th Great Grandfather of Anna Herold Schneider

Valentin Schreck was born abt. 1651 in Hardheim, Germany. Only the name of his father, Georg Schreck, is known.

Hardheim records conflict about two Valentin Schrecks--one estimated to have been born 13 Jun 1658 and this Valentin, whose dob is only estimated at having been around 1651. Both give the father's name as Georg. It is possible they are one and the same considering Valentin's advanced age (see below) when he married in 1694. But if he is the same Valentin who married a Maria Weinmann in 1677, they would have had to have been separated, as she did not die until 1710. Their last child was born in 1687. A mystery yet to be solved. And so, I will end the known Schreck line here for the present.

He was about 43 when, on 7 Jul 1694, he married 19-year-old Regina Margaretha Billinger, (8 Jun 1675--2 Jan 1735), also of Hardheim. She was the daughter of Melchior Billinger and Anna Maria Christina _____. Shortly after their marriage, the couple moved to nearby Rudenthal where the first of their nine children was born in May of 1695 (and the last in 1720.) Valentin Schreck was approximately 71 years of age when he passed away on 1 Jun 1722. Regina (Billinger) Schreck died 2 Jan 1735. She was nearly 60.
