Lodge History

Moree Temperance LOL195 has a remarkable history dating back to 1797 when it was known as Loyal Orange Association No.202 and held its meetings at Crossdernott convenient to the present site of the existing hall at 44 Annaghquin Road, Rock, Dungannon, Co Tyrone, Northern Ireland.

The warrant for LOL 202 is now held by a lodge in Annahoe District, Co. Tyrone.

In 1952 the old school at Drumballyhue was demolished and the foundations of the new hall laid at Drumballyhue Crossroads. All the work was carried out by lodge members. The slates and timber for the roof were obtained from Lyles Brewery at Donaghmore, Dungannon, Co. Tyrone. The owner of which resided in the house built by Mr MacKenzie in 1830 in place of the glebe house rebuilt by the Rev. George Walker ( Seige of Derry fame ). Bro. William Hill of LOL 196 Cookstown Co. Tyrone, was given responsibility for the opening ceremony arrangements at which 5000 people attended. The new hall was to be named " The Queen Elizabeth II Orange Hall " and was opened on 13th September 1952.

In 1954 a new banner was purchased portraying " The Angel with the Holy Bible " on one side and " King William III leaving Hillsborough Castle " on the other. This banner replaced the previous one which was mounted on a wooden surface and can still be seen in the hall to this day. The unfurling of the banner was carried out by Mrs. C.A.M. Alexander.
