The Prophecy? Destiny? a Legend of the ages? some said he was just a man. She knew different from the moment she looked at him from beneath violet shades, she knew deep in her soul he was not like the others. He was not a man content to stand in the shadow of other men, not one to fall prey to a femme fatale...

Was he aware every man in this room of smoke & mirror illusion had once stood in his place? Now regarded by her like so much �Yesterday�s News�, eunuchs still clinging to life by a thread spun from the web of a �Black Widow� of mortal charm...

Still, it had begun or had it begun in some other time? some other place? Was it too late to turn back long ago? With the changing of the tide, the phase of the moon, like a moth to a flame it begins yet again that age old �Ritual of Love� as ancient as the sands of time. Yin to yang, Man to woman, Dark to light...

The Stones were cast, the cards dealt, by the hands of fate. Still, they played out the charade each going through the motions. When it was rendered unto its finale demise, throat bared to the Wolf, it would be the haunting temptress that had fallen, beneath a star-crossed velvet sky, under a �raven�ous moon, in the cold, dark, dead of night...

�The Grifter� left with �empty� pockets but he walked away with her heart...
