CIS2204 Intermediate C++ Programming and Data Structures

For the Fall semester of 1996, the Intermediate C++ course number CIS2213 was renamed CIS2204, Intermediate C++ and Data Structures and extended to a four-semester-hour course with the addition of a data structures component.

On March 29, 1996, the CIS/CSC Task Force voted to continue using the textbook, "Teach Yourself C++", Second Edition, by Herbert Schildt, and to cover the new data structures material using handouts. This instructor agreed to provide the supplementary handout material on data structures for use by any instructor who wanted to use it.

The following documents are now available to cover the "Data Structures" portion of CIS2204 beginning with the Fall 1996 semester. (A file on exception handling was added on 1/15/97.) Camera-ready copies have been placed on file at Ginny's Printing & Copying Store, 2521 Rutland Drive (Southeast corner of Rutland and Burnet Road). Copies can be purchased by students at the standard walk-in duplication rate of approximately $0.07 per printed side. This packet contains approximately 100 printed sides so the total cost to the student should be approximately $7.00.

(Note that this instructor has provided handout material at Ginny's for many other courses as well, including packets of material originally designed for CIS2213 which track and supplement, the material in the Schildt textbook. Before purchasing a packet, make certain that it applies to CIS2204 and is the correct packet. The cover sheet on the Data Structures packet at Ginny's contains the list shown above.)

Neither the instructor who authored this material, nor anyone connected to the instructor, nor any other employee of ACC known to this instructor, receives any income or remuneration of any kind from Ginny's as a result of purchases made by the student. The material is being offered to the student solely for use as a learning aid and solely for the benefit of the student.

In addition, copies of the above documents have been compressed into a single archive file and made available for downloading from this site. The following link will take you to the compressed version of the documents so that you can download them.

In addition, a second compressed file is available containing several miscellaneous documents including a self-administered readiness test for CIS 2204.

You will need to extract the documents from the compressed files before you can read them. The following link will take you to a site where you can download an evaluation copy of a program that can be used to extract the documents. Extraction programs are also available at numerous other sites.

The compressed documents are in Microsoft Word 6 format. Therefore, you will need access to Microsoft Word or another program that can read Word files to be able to read the documents after you extract them. The following link will take you to a site where you can download a free Word Viewer program from Microsoft. Although this instructor hasn't used the Microsoft Word Viewer program, it is believed that it will be satisfactory for the intended purpose.
