Do you remember that incredible shots broadcasted on TV when this movie was to come out? I bet you do. I really wanted to go to see this movie after seeing this. But, whad'ya know, I didn't. I didn't have enough time and you know what usually happens when you really want to do something. There's always something with a higher priority or you just forget to go to the cinema - that's one of my permanent problems.
But enough about me! Let's talk about the movie. I guess Greenpeas activists were throwing up seeing all those beautiful eight feet tall insects butchered right before their very eyes.
No, I didn't see the movie. But I read the movie script. And I have good imaginations - I can almost tell you how it really looked on the screen. Oh... No, I can't - after all, I read that script about a half a year ago and I remeber only some parts of it.
Well, let's ponder shortly about what is this movie about.
It is placed in the future, it is a science fiction movie. It is about space colonialists from the Earth who finally found their limits. And what do they do about that? They send a lot of people to destroy these limits. It's like a Vietnam war or Afghanistan in the outer space.
The limits mean a mean planet where a tremendous colony of huge unfriendly insects live. Both sides find the other very attractive to fight against. And thus, they do fight against each other. While the colony of the ugly beetles sends series of asteroids against the Earth and its colonies, the Earthlings send their soldiers to colonize the planet of Bugs or to erase them from the face of the Bug planet.
And, thanks to a bunch of young people dying in a fight with the Arachnid warriors, we are taken directly in the centre of it all - we are taken (besides that we move through a half of their lives) to Klendathu, a fierce orange planet, which orbits a double star, ringed by an asteroid belt... amidst of a story that doesn't end well for the characters, though it gives a new hope to the mankind.
