The origin of Rick Jones is a little hazy. He was an orphan from a young age and grew up in orphanages most of his life. Rick Jones became an important person within the super hero world when some of his friends had dared him to sneak past a few guards on a military base near by. At that same time the government was testing Dr. Bruce Banner's new weapon; the Gamma Bomb. While Rick was sitting on the test field in his jeep, Dr. Banner notices Rick near the bomb and runs out to save him. As the Gamma Bomb went off Banner saves Rick by throwing him into a protective trench. The radiation transformed Banner into the well known monster hero known as the Incredible Hulk. Rick had been a sidekick to Bruce and tried to help him as best he can but eventually felt that he wasn't appretiated and decided to form the "Teen Brigade" a group of teenagers who help notify super-beings of problems (In Incredible Hulk vol 1 #6).

Rick Jones then had become the side kick to Captain America for some time. He had assisted the Avengers for a while and other heroes until he finally left Captain America, mentally he was drawn to the nega-bands. When he put them on he slammed his hands together and he switched places in the negative zone with the original Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell). During a great war known as the "Kree Skrull War" Captain Marvel and Rick found themselves in the center of the war. At the climax of the War the Supreme Intelligence unleashed the "Destiny Force" within Rick's mind to put a end to the war.

Some time later Captain Marvel was diagnosed with deadly cancer and passed away. Rick went on with his life, however, and continued being a sidekick to Hulk, especially during his grey-years. And even when Bruce Banner's three personalities were merged he continued working with him and eventually got involved with Marlo Chandler, who was Gray Hulk's ex-girlfriend.

Their relationship went on pretty well. Except for one thing, a women claiming to be Rick Jones' mother showed up in town. Turns out she was a criminal and "collected" young orphans claiming to be their mother. She killed Marlo and sent Rick into a depresion. He swore he would try to save her and bring her back somehow.

He has gone to Dr. Strange, the  the Fantastic Four, anyone who might have the technology to bring Marlo back. When he confronted Hulk's arch-foe the Leader, he revealed that he could save her. (Incredible Hulk # 400) He began reviving her but The Hulk in a blind fury inturrupted hte process before it could finish, and Marlo was alive but her conciousness was in a deep coma.

When Marlo came out of her comatose state, Rick and Marlo were married. Their marriage was very good. Rick and Marlo even had started their own tv show "Keeping up with the Jones"(Which Genis had appeared on). Sometime after the Heroes all vanished to the Heroes Reborn Universe the Incredible Hulk threw Rick Jones into a wall breaking his neck, paralyzing him from the waist down.

Rick slowly began feeling very sorry for himself. Not expressing his emotions and not talking with Marlo too much. And when Betty Banner died, it was the tip of the ice-burg. Marlo felt her life was just too confusing with the super-heroes and her relationship with Rick that she leaves him.

Rick had gotten extremely sick after that. And he had to call the Avengers to help him. It turns out that his supressed "Destiny Force" power was begining to reactivate because of things that occured in the Avengers Forever story line.

During the Avengers Forever story line Rick Jones calls upon several Avengers from different timelines to fight for the existance of time itself. And by issue 11 we learn that in the future Captain Marvel (Genis-Vell) merges with Rick Jones. And at the end of the Avenger Forever Rick and Captain Marvel merge together.

And this is where we leave Captain Marvel and Rick Jones now.
