If you like romance, this is the version of "20,000 Leagues" for you. Conseil is replaced by Sophie, the daughter of the professor. She ends up liking Ned, which makes Captain Nemo jealous. Nemo tries to kill Ned so he won't be a rival for Sophie's affections. The Nautilus in this version is not far from what Verne had envisioned - a cigar shaped vessel.
