Annihilation picks up where Mortal Kombat ends. Shao Kahn, the emperor of Outworld, cheats and enters the realm of Earth. He sends his wariors against the forces of Earth. Johnny Cage is killed almost immediately. Earth and Outworld are merging. Sindel, Kitana's mother was brought back to life and turned to Shao Kahn's side. Liu Kang and Kitana seek help from Nightwolf, but on the way, Scorpion kidnaps Kitana. Liu Kang finds Nightwolf, and starts to learn his Animality, but Jade comes and distracts him. Sonya goes to get her partner, Jax, who put bionic arms on himself. They get attacked by Melena (who looks a lot like Kitana). The four meet up with Rayden outside the temple of the Elder Gods. They have to go to Ourworld to save Kitana. Liu Kang saves her after fighting Barakas and having the cage squish Sheeva. Jade was a spie and is killed. It turns out that Shinnok, an Elder God (Rayden's and Shao Kahn's father) let Shao Kahn cheat to enter the realm of Earth. Shao Kahn kills Rayden. The two other Elder Gods kill Sho Kahn and banish Shinnok (to the Netherrealm), and restore Raydan's life, making him an Elder God to replace his father. Sindel is good again. Earth and Outworld stop merging. It is the end of the terror of Shao Kahn trying to take over Earth.
