The Weavercraft has many items "for sale" on display in our Display Tent, which is normally located in our inner courtyard ('+go weaver-cy' online) but can almost always be found at gathers and festivals around PernMUSH. Our display collection has grown over the years, and unfortunately, as database size on the MUSH is limited, we cannot keep all the descriptions in the display tent. So we've moved a number of them here. Please feel free to "browse" this page for descriptions you'd like to use - just remember to credit the appropriate Weaver if you do use one of the descriptions here. Thank you!

Masquerade Runner Costume
By Apprentice Mirtia

This Masquerade costume represents a strong, proud black runner stallion. Close-fitting black pants are tucked into slim black boots, and a tight shirt made of thin soft ebony wool hugs across the wearer's broad chest, tapering down the end just below the waistband of his dark pants, where a flaring runnertail swishes down in a heavy stream to the backs of his knees. The high collar of the shirt reaches almost to the top of his neck, and the long sleeves closely enfold his powerful arms to just below his wrists. On his hands are a pair of specially made gloves that are shaped to look like a runner's hooves from the top, leaving his fingers free to curl beneath the covering. You may have to ask him, but if you're interested, there's a small tag sewn to the inside of the shirt which bears the stamp of the Weavercraft, and the words: Made by Apprentice Mirtia.

The arched neck of the stallion surges up from the wearer's collar to just at the chin, with his finely lined head thrust forward inquisitively above, his onyx eyes gleaming challengingly. The soft black felt of the mask is touched with red at the flaring nostrils, and slight gaped mouth. Sharp ears are pricked to the front attentively, and a long flowing mane, made of runner hair, tosses around them before flowing down his head and back. The mask fits over his head, trailing down to the back of his neck. The area below the soft head is left open so the wearer can eat and drink comfortably without revealing his identity.

Masquerade Shipfish Gown
By Apprentice Mirtia

This is a beautiful ball gown made of a sea-green sisal overlaid with shimering cloth-of-silver. There is a high flaring collar on the back of the risquely cut neckline, and it looks as though a wave is splashing up around her neck. The shoulders balloon out before gathering close at the elbows, and tightly sheathing her forearms and wrists, coming to points on the back of each of her hands. The tight fitting bodice laces up the front with shining sea-green ribbons, and the ends of the ribbons trail down to flutter against the top fo the frothing skirt as it flares out from her hips. The green and silver of the skirt look like the wind tossed waves of the restless sea. Close examination will reveal a small tag that bears the Weavercraft seal, and the words: Made by Apprentice Mirtia.

There is a wonderfully crafted half mask with the gowl that ties behind the head with more of the glossy green ribbons. The mask depicts the grinning head of a pale blue-grey shipfish, which seems to be dancing out of the foaming waves of the ocean colored dress below. A soft velvet makes the smooth skin of the shipfish, and its long nose curves back over the wearer's, obscuring her features.

Pale Blue Masquerade Gown
By Sr. Apprentice Nalaya

This long, flowing gown is made of a light, slightly crisp fabric resembling taffeta. It is a pale blue color, shimmering with different shades of that blue as the wearer moves. The bodice is of a daringly low cut, rounded and then extending outward into shoulders which are tight fitting and low on the shoulder. A ruffle of ivory lace edges the neckline and shoulders, and it can be raised or lowered depending on the modesty of the wearer. The sleeves are poufed in a large display of the fabric's crispness, falling to the elbow, and ribbons of blue and ivory hang from the hem of the sleeves and sway over the arms. The bodice is tight and fitting, gathering in small pleats as the skirt meets the torso. The long, full skirt falls from the waist to the tops of the feet, edged with the same ivory lace, and has many layers of cripsed wool underneath to make it stand out and sway. A small matching mask made to cover the wearer's eyes and nose is made of the same pale blue fabric, edged with lace, and has a stick with which to hold it up - ribbons of pale blue and ivory wrap about the wooden handle playfully, the beads attached to the ends making a slight tinkling sound. Underneath the hem is sewn the Weavercraft seal.

Braided Rug
By Apprentice Opa

Before you is an elaborate multicoloured oval rug. Examining it more closely, you realize that its elaborateness is deceptive. Its creation was obviously simple, although the result is stunning -- hundreds of scraps of spare fabric, of all possible colours, materials, and patterns, have been braided and sewn together, creating a veritable rainbow. The unevenness and irregularity of fabrics and colour patterns only add to the rug's unique beauty. Where combinations of pink and red, flax and sisal, bright and dull, and coarse and fine would ordinarily create dissonance, here they compliment, lending any room the rug is in a bright and cheerful air. A small lavender badge with white spool and needle has been sewn to the underside. It bears the tiny words Apprentice Crafted.

Tapestry: The Finger Points...(Benden)
By Master Maryse

Note: ICly, the technique used to create this tapestry is of Master-level calibre.

In the foreground of this tapestry is the Finger Rock, pointing directly at the centerpiece of the tapestry - the Eye Rock. Behind, and slightly offcenter, the sun blazes in a brilliant panorama, coloring everything with red and yellow. The sun appears to be almost balanacing on the Finger Rock. The Eye Rock glows a sullen, ominous blood-red, bracketing the Red Star. Snow covers the edges of the mountain. Falling away in the distance is the foothills of the mountain. Forests sprinkle the hills with a dark green. Far in the background, the chill, pale blue of a winter sky meets the darker blue-grey of the sea. To the right in the background, the sea makes a sharp bite into the coastline, forming a small bay. Mixed with the darker green of the forests is the white of snow, scattered across the land, edging the sea in a brilliant band of red-and-yellow-touched white. The distinctive bay in the right corner of the background indicates clearly that the tapestry is of Benden Weyr's Star Stones, as does the Bowl wall that curves straight out and then down to the right.

Tapestry: The Finger Points...(HRW)
By Master Maryse

Note: ICly, the technique used to create this tapestry is of Master-level calibre.

The glory of dawn over the High Reaches mountain range shows in the background of the tapestry, but the main feature is not the landscape, but the pair of rocks in the center: the Finger rock, pointing directly at the Eye Rock. Bracketed in the Eye Rock, glowing an ominous, almost blood-red, is the Red Star. Slightly off-center in the background, the sun balances upon the tip of the Finger Rock. Directly behind the stones, the wide, flat area the watchdragon stands on seems to suddenly drop away into the outer side of the mountain. Other mountains rise beyond, though none seem particularly tall - the Weyr is obviously in one of the highest peaks around. The mountains are mostly black and brown, as though seen by squinting into the rising sun to try to see them. Northeast and southeast, though, a touch more color shows on the sides of the mountains, the white of snow reflecting the sun brightly. Far in the background can be seen patches of a much lighter brown, with mountains rising again behind the break. As you move from one side to the other of the tapestry, the perspective seems to shift with you, so that the Finger Rock is always pointing straight at the Eye Rock no matter what angle you look at the tapestry from.

Tapestry: The Finger Points...(Ista)
By Master Maryse

Note: ICly, the technique used to create this tapestry is of Master-level calibre.

A glorious dawn this tapestry would represent, pale blue sky touched with faint reddish streaks to the east, and the sun barely over the horizon, were it not for the very centerpiece of the tapestry: the Finger Rock, pointing directly at the Eye Rock, on Ista Weyr's Star Stones. Bracketed in the Eye Rock, glowing an ominous, almost blood red, is the Red Star. The sun balances upon the tip of the Finger Rock, it appears, though from the angle of Ista's Stones it's a little difficult to tell. In the background, the mountain falls away in a rough cliff, down to the hills and mountains around the Weyr. Forests gleam green in the morning, tiny sparks of white in some places locating the ging trees of Ista's forests. Far in the background, the coastline is barely visible as a brown line between the forests and the blue of the ocean, which meets the blue of the sky as well. As you move from one side of the tapestry to the other, the perspective seems to shift with you, so that the Finger Rock is always pointing straight at the Eye Rock no matter what angle you look at the tapestry from.
