In one version, both the human and Elven mother bore half of Daobin at the same time, the human mother the right half, and the Elven mother the right half.  Upon birth, both halves hopped over to each other and merged into one being who instantly grew into adulthood.

     In another version, both women gave birth to a son and Mhrll, fearful that his Wife, Sellah, would become enraged at his latest infidelity took both babes and swallowed them whole.  Mhrlls daughter, Ehlona, witnessed what happened and struck Mhrll in the gut with the end of her spear causing Mhrll to vomit up both babes who had somehow become one in his stomach.

     Daobin was half mortal and therefor shares the faults of mortals and gods.  He possessed almost unearthly beauty and grace from his Elven mother, and great strength and endurance from his Human mother.  He was also aloof, boastful, boorish, bullying, and often crude.  He was also one of the greatest warriors and blacksmiths who ever lived.

     He is the subject of many legends, the most famous of which is the part he took in the legend of Aladaar the Mighty.   Daobin forged the blade Wyrmbane Serra Gradese and offered it to whomever could complete 10 quests that he laid out.  For decades none could complete even half of them in the ten years he allotted you to do them, and from this nearly impossible feat comes the saying "That's a Daobins task!"   used to refer to something impossible or foolish to try.

     Daobins ten quests are:

1.   Balance J'keths throne on your head.

2.   Check out a book from the great library.

3.   Capture one of every unique creature in the Glimmering Downs and bring them to the Mesa zoo.

4.   Count the coins in the Kings vault.

5.   Carry an egg from Daytoo to Kings Crest without having it break or hatch, without using the highway.

6.   Get a feather from the Sphinx.

7.   Defeat the Dragon Shimmerflame, but not kill him.

8.   Change the flow of the river Taris.

9.   Steal a kiss from the Elven Queen, and bring it to him in a box.

10. Wrestle an opponent of Daobins choice.
