Wyrmbane Serra Gradese is, simply put, one of the most powerful rune weapons ever made, and is part of the ring of eight blades- the legendary swords of the Elder Gods.  The sword is beautiful to behold, its is crafted of purest mithril that fell from the heavens.  Its pommel is capped with mother of pearl, its grip, long enough for two hands is wrapped in shimmering black-purple kraken hide and its hilt is large and comes up to the sides of the blade in two sharp angles.  The oddest part is the blade, large as a long sword but a touch too wide, especially near the hilt, and with hundreds of small serrations like on a sharks tooth.  the odd part is that the blade is not attached to the hilt by any physical means, it floats above a large emerald set into the top of the hilt.  Though it is above the hilt the blade never sways or turns, it may as well be welded to the hilt for all intents and purposes.

The sword was forged in the Volcano of Black Fire in the Doomfang Mountains by none other than Daobin, the son of Mhrll with the Hammer of Eternity.  After its forging Daobin whispered runes into the blade instilling it with the power of part of his own godly essence.  It is able to call fire and lightning from the sky with the will of the wielder and the serrated blade has small licks of black fire trailing down it when held by its master.

The sword gained true notoriety when it was used by Aladaar the Mighty to slay Gorrokel the Armorfiend.  Gorrokel was a massive great elder wyrm dragon who had constructed himself a magical suit of plate mail made from the suits he had taken from those he had defeated over many centuries.  The black dragon could spew acid on any who tried to stand to him and cast spells more powerful than all except the greatest wizards.  No bounty was high enough to temp any man to face him, even with an army at his back, even the fearless dwarves made it a policy to placate the Armorfiend to protect their mountain farms.

Gorrokel was challenged by Aladaar to a fight to the death, now, Gorrokel was not stupid, he had no illusions about Aladaar being a typical weak and stupid human, after all, Aladaar had defeated Shimmerflame through his wits, and Gorrokel had no desire to join the powerful Shimmerflame on a list of Dragons defeated but still living that would be just too embarrassing.  Upon seeing Aladaar on the field of battle, the Armorfiend gave no time for trickery or talking he leapt straight at Aladaar and began attacking with the fury of a thousand hells.  He used no spells for fear that Aladaar would turn them back at him, he just fought and clawed and burned without strategy or plan, he only thrashed and burned lashing out with all his power to kill Aladaar.  Not that he was in the least afraid of losing this fight.   This was on his terms, not Aladaars, and no weapon known could penetrate his armor.

But until now, the power of Wyrmbane Serra Gradese was unknown.  Not expecting Gorrokels berzerker attack Aladaar was nearly killed by the first assault, but he soon regained his feet and turned loose the strength barely contained within the blade.  He lashed out with a bolt of holy fire from the weapon, a gout that could decimate most dragons easily.  But against the Armorfiend it only coruscated around him and shone off of the glimmering steel that he shielded himself with.   Realizing that no magic could work, Aladaar turned to the blade.  He cut gashes into the armor and then used the pommel of the weapon to dent the gashes inward.   He did this again and again as Gorrokel attacked and attacked without stop.

After three days Aladaar could take no more and he fell to the ground, exhausted by the insane pace of the constant fighting.  Gorrokel screamed in ludicrous laughter and rage, raised his claws high into the air and swung down.  The blow struck Aladaar in the back, nearly killing him, but it fell much softer than it should have, as Gorrokel had not the strength to carry it through as he stumbled and fell, dead.  That which had killed him had been his own armor, forced inward like a thousand spikes, tearing the dragon to shreds on the inside.

Almost nothing is know of the full powers of Wyrmbane Serra Gradese.  Daobin himself would only say that "You will know its powers when you wield it."  It is theorized by sages experts in the field of weapons that the powers of the sword depend upon the strength of will, character, and personality of the wielder, so it is the same for no two people.

The location of Wyrmbane Serra Gradese is unknown, as it was thrown to the winds after Aladaars death.
