On Friday, September 12th, the crew of the U.S.S.
StarQuest met at the home of David Elliott
The meeting started at 6:30 pm with most of us in attendance
-
This meeting again concentrated on
the design of the StarQuest T shirts and coordinating this weekends travel
plans to the Klingon meeting.
-
T-shirt ideas and logo designs expected
from crew.
-
Newsletter articles expected from crew.
-
Jon showed us another video this time
featuring the new Borg girl on Voyager.
-
Klingon meeting:
-
A young Klingon was "initiated", but
the batteries in the pain sticks must have been old since he didn't make
a sound. I felt like screaming for his, since I "felt his pain".
-
A new 1st officer was promoted, as
crew members saluted him "from the heart", he responded by reading word
for word from a script (the script will make a fine 1st officer!), I guess
he wanted to demonstrate that some Klingons CAN read!
-
The 1st officer then took the chair
in the 1st simulation, where he preceeded to spare a starbase from distruction
after they failed to meet a treaty evacuation. Leading by "asking
the simulator questions", he almost left the helmsmen and weapons officer
out of the simulation completely. This was clearly his first simulation,
and he obviously did NO research beforehand.
-
A couple of other "crews" tryed simulations,
but without a clear storyline, and lack of simulation experience, it was
basically embarrassing for both crew and the simulator.
-
Anyway, it was an interesting experience,
with many in attendance from several ships in the area. Jon, Alan
and I saw Batman beforehand, with Neil and Elizabeth meeting us at the
meeting, Neil and Elizabeth stayed for the celebration at Hooters (which
started too late for Jon and myself).
