Dispatch and Radio Operations

453.525R - North Dispatch
453.70R - Central Dispatch
453.80R - South Dispatch
453.85R - West Dispatch
453.60R - Tactical Channel
453.15R - Alternate Channel

Paging of stations and response of units occurs on the Dispatch channels. The North and Central Dispatch Channels are usually patched together and controlled by the North Dispatcher. The South and West Dispatch Channels are usually patched together and controlled by the South Dispatcher. The Tactical Channel is used by units arriving and operating at a serious incident. The Alternate Channel is used when other channels are overloaded or experience electronic problems.

The only people who use 800Mhz radios as of May 1999 are Commanders and Fire Prevention Inspectors. On or abouts November 28, 1997, Metro-Dade Fire-Rescue completely switched over to the new County 800Mhz trunked radio system. Because of large problems caused by radios failing when they got wet, they went back to their 453Mhz radio gear.
