I am a dispatcher for "KX" Colchester Emergency Communications. We dispatch Hebron, Colchester, Salem, East Hampton, East Haddam, Haddam Neck, Marlborough, East Hampton Police, and The Middlesex Hospital Paramedic Program. I am a FF/EMT for East Hampton.

(Valley Shore Dispatch Center is located south of us. Their website is: http://www.valleyshore911.org Here at KX we do not have a webpage as of yet.)

All of our operations are as follows: 46.18 - E.Hampton, E.Haddam, Haddam Neck, Marlb. Dispatch (Middlesex County Tones) 46.22 - E.Hampton, E.Haddam, Haddam Neck, Marlb. Fireground 46.00 - E.Hampton EMS 33.74 - Back-up "33MHz towns" 33.78 - Back-up "33MHz towns" 33.80 - Hebron, Colchester, Salem Dispatch 33.82 - Colchester Fireground 33.90 - Salem, Hebron Fireground 155.400 - Middlesex Medics 155.490 - East Hampton Police 153.935/965 - Sirens/Civil Defense 155.340 - State Med Net Control 46.16 - State Fire net

You will hear us ID as "KX" Mostly: KGC263 WNKK348 Not as often: WPBX458 KTT856 WPBX457 KNFP300 KFN602 We transmit from: Buckley Hill Colchester,CT 350 Watts EVERYTHING Baker Hill East Hampton, CT (dont wanna know) UHF link 18/22 Public Works Road East Hampton, CT 100 watts UHF link 18/22 Plain Hill Norwich, CT 250 watts UHF link 80/90 North School Road Coventry, CT 250 Watts UHF link 80/90 Middlesex Hospital Middletown, CT ????? 400

Eastern Connecticut is utilizing a new system because LoBand is hard to get [purchase] in radios and pagers. We have TONS of UHF link sites to LoBand Any frequency can be accessed via UHF. Soon any FD will be able to talk if the need arises via a UHF system (limited distance simplex) CH.1 Fire Ground RED Ch.2 Fire Ground BLUE CH.3 Fire Police CH.4 KX, WW, TN, QV Dispatch (each have local PL for dispatcher to dispatcher coomunication. Another PL for a "voting system" throughout Eastern CT for the same purpose)

Because [low band] Pagers are hard to find we are starting to Dispatch only on 152.005. VHF pagers are more effiecinet and easier to find.

This is another "voting system" via 75MHz. IT COVERS all of eastern CT - PLUS! After the tone alert is done and the voice message is given out we send an alphanumeric page over the same frequency. (POCSAG) The above 152.005 system is still in the test mode. But computer models show it working great.

We use multiple other freq but i dont want to bore all of you. Our UHF links are used for back up, everyday comms, UHF radios to HEAR everything because of the location of the links, and so on. There are UHF links all over Eastern CT. YOu can be just about anywhere and be able to get on the air and hear eveything the dispatch center is hearing.

Hey Pete, Sorry for the delay but new rule in the spatch center NO INTERNET! Bummer! Anyway, no the CSP (connecticut state police) has never dispatched for us. No agency other than us has. At first the area we cover was dispatched from the towns themselves, then a regional center was established. A lot of people think that we are part of CSP, Troop "K" - Colchester, CT. They think "K" .... "KX". Our name (KX) is just a name from Colchester Fire Dept across the street. They used to be station "K" so we were "KX" meaning auxillary.
